And although it took the Eagles double overtime, they managed to even their scries against the Trenton Sting. Seth Gray's goal off a set-up from Jason McAulcy 8:40 into the second overtime period lifted the Eagles to a 2-1 victory, evening their best-of- seven series at one game apiece. The lincmatcs broke in two-on-onc after a neutral ice turnover, and following following a nifty fake by McAulcy, he slid a pass across to Gray, who buried the puck into the open net behind Trenton goalie Casey Torres. "It was a nice fake by Jason who feathered a perfect pass and I made no mistake," described Gray of the gamewinning gamewinning goal. The win erased a 7-2 victory by Trenton on Friday night to open the series. series. It also avoided a scenario of the Eagles having to travel to Trenton tonight for game three and facing a two-games-to-zero deficit. "To go down two games and head back to their rink, it was a must win," said Gray of the importance of Sunday's Sunday's win in a highly entertaining game. "We still have to win one in (Trenton's (Trenton's rink) to win the series, so we'll go down there (tonight) and try to play the same game we did (Sunday)." Trenton had the only goal of the first period as Jeff Petherick scored on a power play. But that lead evaporated when Mike Leonard tipped in a point shot from Ryan Jackman during a second second period power play for the Eagles. The teams played a scoreless third period, followed by a scoreless 10- minute sudden-death overtime frame. Following tonight's third game in Trenton, the series shifts back to Bowmanville Bowmanville for Game 4 on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The fifth game will -be played in Trenton on Friday night. "We said all along that we have to win at home, and steal one in their rink," said coach Mike Posavad. The Eagles appeared poised to "steal one" in the opening game of the series in Trenton, holding a 2-1 lead late into the second period. But three goals in less than four minutes ' put Trenton ahead 4-2 as they coasted to a 7-2 win. "In (Trenton's) rink, things seem to happen pretty quick," said Posavad of the flurry of goals.
