He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family Surviving are his sons, John Michael, Dartmouth; Dartmouth; Robert William, Abbottford, B.C.; daugh- ler-in-law, Rowena Baker, Halifax; grandchildren, Robert, Judy Jennifer, Billy, Allan and Sarah; several great-grandchildren; companion, Joyce Burton; numerous nieces and nephews.
