Obituary OBITUARY GLADYS MAY ETCHER (nee King) Funeral was May 8, 2000 lor Gladys May Etcher (nee May 5, 2000 at Marnwood Lifecarc Cenlrc, in her 84lh year. Service was held at Morris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Yates Officiating. Organist Ross Metcalf played several beautiful renditions renditions of Ava Maria at the funeral, which was one of her favorites. It was played al lier wedding. wedding. Daughter of Elizabetli Poolton and Benjamin King, she was predeceased by lier husband Arthur George Etcher in November of 1988. Mrs. Etcher is survived by son Michael Etcher and Sharon, of North York; and daughter Elizabeth and Brian, of Belleville. She is also survived by grandchildren Dan Etcher, Jon Etcher, Jennifer Policy and Michael Jones. Mix. Etcher was born May 31, 1916 in Bowmanville. On May 29, 1948 she married Arthur George Etcher. : She lived most of lier married life oil High Street. Mrs. Etcher spent one year in flic Vcltri Complex and due to failing health resided at Marnwood for 3 years. Mrs. Etcher was a housewife. When she was a young woman she worked at the Bowmanville Memorial Hospital, then at Mike & Rela Wideman's dress shop. Later she worked at Walker's downtown. In earlier days she enjoyed sewing, and working working in their vegetable garden. She loved Jack- man's Creek and had many Special memories of her youth spent there. Mrs.! Etcher was a member of St. John's Anglican Church. She had beep a member of TOPS for several years and the' Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed local history and was proud of lier North Ward roots. She was always interested interested in history of any kind. Mrs. Etcher was a proud Canadian but also fell strong tics to lier family's English heritage. In later years Mrs. Etcher enjoyed oil painting. She always enjoyed enjoyed walking and was a familiar sight on the streets of the North Ward and downtown. Pallbearers were grandchildren Dan Etcher, Jon Etcher, Jennifer Policy; and Michael Jones.
