On Saturday May 10th, 34 cubs and 15 scouts meet at the Orono School to participate in the planting of trees, for a project undertaken by the Boy Scouts of Canada, known as 'Trees for Canada Planting was completed very early due to the great turnout of cub parents who turned out to assist their boy in planting his trees. During the past month the boys have been knocking on doors asking for pledges, now the boys will return to the home and collect their money. Later in the day, the cubs and scouts boarded a bus and attended the Shrine Circus in Oshawa, which was enjoyed by the boys and leades and ended a most successful day. The Orono Cubs next Big Day will be when they participate in the West Durham Durham Athletic Day which is to be held on May 24th at Kendal Ball Park starting at 10 a.m. Everyone welcome to attend. We are sorry to say that the paper drive that was scheduled scheduled for May 31st has again been cancelled due to the over supply of paper by our distributor. However we will have a bottle drive and hope this will help to replenish our funds.
