MIRE WATSON GEORGE POPADICH DAVE NANCEKIVILL Parents volunteer help to Orono Public School The system of Parent Volunteers Volunteers is an important part of the daily activity in Orono Public School. Parent Volunteers Volunteers are parents who volunteer volunteer their services to help the school. They do many different different things in the school. All teachers have at least one volunteer that comes in on a regular basis. They help with giving tests, help reading groups, do bulletin boards, mark work, do filing, do typing, help in the gym, help clean up, help students, give math skills, make stencils and help put supplies away. The teachers and their volunteers are as follows : -Mrs. Staples: Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. McCullough, Mrs. Hudson, Hudson, Mrs. Ronzelman, Mrs. Lane, Miss Zegers and Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Allin: Mrs. Flett, Mrs. West, Mrs. Ronzelman, Mrs. German and Mrs. Bryenton Mr. Smith: Mrs. Murree and Mrs. Bailly Mrs. Cowen: Mrs. Hoensch, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Lycett Mrs. Bunting: Mrs. Sherwin, Mrs. Mumford and Mrs. Stephenson Mrs. Deremo: Mrs. Sherwin and Mrs. Doxtater Mrs. Yeo: Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Ring, Mrs. Hoench, Mrs. Armstrong, and Mrs. Lycett Mrs. Lunn: Mrs. Quantrill, Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Johnston Mr. Yeo: Mrs. Simmons, Mrs. Stephenson and Mrs. Smith Mr. Crawford: Mrs. Gavey The majority of the parent volunteers say that they have changed their minds about the school since they started coming in. At first they were eluctant to come in because :hey did not know what would be expected. However, now they feel confident and enjoy. This is mainly because the volunteers have experienced working in groups and found out the open concept works. Mr. Moffatt's opinion on the parent volunteer programme is this : "I think it works really well and it's good for the pupils too, because when they see their parents here and interested in the school and their work the pupils get interested as well." Though Mr. Moffatt is pleased with the project, he would also like still more parents become involved.
