News The Ontario Provincial Police Police at Newcastle investigated the following Motor Vehicle Collisions and Occurrences during the period July 7, 1975 to July 13, 1975. Twenty Motor Vehicle Collisions Collisions were investigated in which ten persons were injured injured and two persons were killed. As a result of these collisions eight persons have been charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act. FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS The following are brief reports concerning two fatal motor vehicle accidents which occurred during the past week. At approximately 2:40 p.m. on July 9, 1975 a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Highway 401 approximately 1 mile east of Courtice Road. Mrs. Margaret PRESCOTT, PRESCOTT, 48 years, of Goodwood, Ontario who had been east- bound on Highway 401, was killed when the vehicle she was operating was in collision with a second eastbound vehicle which was operated by a Mr. Manfred WASMER, 46 years, ,of 432 Bay Street North, Hamilton, Ontario. The PRESCOTT vehicle was struck on the left side in the passing lane. James were the investigating officers. officers. A second fatal motor veh icle accident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on July 12, 1975. This accident occurred on the Highway 35 ramp leading to Highway 401 eastbound. Francis P. KEARNEY, 69 years, of 432 George Street South, Peterborough, Ontario had been driving southbound on Highway 35 and while travelling around the ramp , the vehicle left the roadway and travelled into the ditch where it rolled over several times. Mr. KEARNEY who was alone in his vehicle at the time was taken to the Bow- manville Memorial Hospital where he passed away at approximately 2:30 p.m. July 9, 1975.
