3-Orono Weekly Times. July 23, 1975 KENDAL AND PORT HOPE TRADE WINS The Kendal Eagles and the Port Hope Intermediate Club played home and home games last week trading wins. Both teams won on their home diamonds. Port Hope last Wednesday took a 11-8 win over the Èagles in Port Hope even though Kendal out hit the home team 14 to 11. Paul Jones took the loss on the mound for Kendal. In the hitting department Bill Robinson and Michael Carman went for 3 for 5 with Jerry Thompson hitting 2 for 4. On Sunday in Kendal the Eagles turned the tables on the Port Hope crew and took a decisive 104 win. The Eagles were strong at bat with fifteen hits while Doug Taylor and Mike Carman gave up only eight hits in their nine innings of pitching. Taylor pitched into the sixth with Carman coming in in relief. Doug Rickard played a sound all - round game both in the field and at bat. He drove out three hits in three trips to the plate and in his fourth batting was walked. Fraser Wallace recorded 3 for 5 as did Bill McCullough with one being a double. Pete Henderson set the tone of the game for Kendal in the opening frame when he belted out a double with the bases loaded scoring three runs to give the Eagles a big edge earlyin the game. Henderson batted 2 for 5. LOBB BALL STANDINGS This week Joe Caruana of the Newcastle Recreation department submitted the standings in the Lobb Ball league being played in the area this summer. The Orono Statesmen and St. Mary's Cement are tied for the top podition with the Newcastle Team Number one close on their heals.
