Don't let this opportunity pass without a try of your pulling power. Doug Moffatt, New Democratic Democratic Party Candidate in Durham East accused the Ontario Government of mishandling mishandling public funds in its dealings with the people displaced by the planned Pickering Airport. Moffatt detailed the treatment treatment of two people with nearly identical houses on adjoining properties in the hamlet of Whitevale. One owner bought his property back at the same price he was paid three years ago in 1972 and resold the house within a couple of hours for a ten thousand dollar profit. The other owner was offer ed his house back one day earlier at a price thirteen thousand dollars higher than he had been paid BUT only on condition that he would have to agree to occupy the property continuously for FIVE YEARS! This house had been let run down by the Government and had been, standing empty for some Mrs. Rev west ana Mr. A1 Anderson of Orono have opened a floWer shop in Bowmanville known as Bev's Floral Art. The official opening opening was held on Monday, August llth. The new shop features all kinds of arrangements, arrangements, bouquets and dried flower arrangements. months. Even though it is still empty two truckloads of water are dumped every week into the well. li The whole business smells of something rotten", Moffatt claimed. If the Government has changed its mind, it should deal fairly and in a consistent fashion with everyone. everyone. If one person has to pay an increase in excess of 25 percent how can another be given his property back with no price increase? If one person has to occupy the property continuously for five years why can the neighbouring neighbouring property be resold on the same day? This is_ public money the Davis Government is playing with; there can be no special favours. Moffatt produced copies of the registered letter and conditional sales contracts sent to one of the owners and a list of information copied from the files of the registry office in Whitby to verify his charges. He was critical of the handling of the airport problem problem and accused Davis and company of "flim flam" by attempting to place all of the blame for the problems associated associated with the Airport on the Federal Government when the Ontario Tories are dealing with people affected in such a shoddy manner. "I only know of these two cases because I happened to talk to one of the involved persons. How many other such "special deals" are being made?" Moffat asked. The time to straighten out this mess is now. Let's have a public declaration of all of these deals complète with figures. What have you to hide Bill Davis? Why, in the Registry Office in Whitby, aren't the figures for the transactions with the Queen part of the registered documents? documents? Why were the tonnants tonnants evicted from property No. 39 in Whitevale? Why is water being hauled to fill a well for a house which is vacant?
