Many in the area have come in contact with Rev. Maggs at the Oshawa General Hospital and all are welcome to attend the Sunday service on August 31st. Since coming to Oshawa as' co-ordinating chaplain at the I Oshawa General Hospital in May 1974, Rev Maggs has been involved in the dual roles of pastor to | the hospital : patients, their families and f staff and liason person between between the hospital and the! [; church ministers in the area. The latter responsibility has 1 involved the setting up of i seminars for clergy, of which three have been held to date and the establishment of an "On-Call" chaplaincy program. program. Nine local ministers have participated in the latter and have completed the initial training program of a full orientation day in the hospital plus four evenings of discussions discussions and sharing with the chaplain about actual work of the ministry in the hospital. The chaplain is concerned to be able to serve people of all religious backgrounds and interest including those who are of no religious persuasion. He is concerned to meet with area church people as widely as possible and has preached about his work in over twenty different area churches since coming to Oshawa. Wants Orono clock fixed At the recent meeting of the Orono Chamber of Commerce Mr. Ted Samuel proposed that the Chamber spearhead a move to fix up the Town Clock that sits atop the Orono Town Hall without a coat of paint and dispensing the wrong time with the majority of its faces. He said it was a poor advertisement for the Village and the Town.
