GIRLS SOFTBALL ACTIVE Girls softball has seen some action throughout the month of August with the Orono Long's Fashion defeating the Armstrong's IGA in a sudden death game. The Hampton B team in a recent game took a 11-9 win over the Orono Kinsmen girls. In Orono Girls T-Ball the local crew took a 22-20 win over a visiting team from Bowmanville. This latter game was played at the Orono Beef Barbecue. On September 20th the Regional Championship Round Robin Tournament will be held in Bowmanville with the Orono two team meeting Bowmanville 1 team and Hampton one team meeting the Orono one team. The tournament will decide the Regional championship in this league. LOCAL DRIVERS DO WELL AT KAWARTHA Local harness drivers did well at the Kawartha during the past week with Frank Stacey picking up the first win on Tuesday night driving Wil Lor Amy in the third race with a time of 2,09. Junior West was third with Miss Yellowburd in the second race and second with Den's Express in the fifth race. In the eighth race Gerald Robinson placed second with Elm Grove Chief with Junior West third driving Peaches. The win went to Blythe Venture it) 2.08. In the next race West and Robinson changed places with West second driving Fifehill Blaze and Robinson third driving Roger Ringo. The win went' to Harlo Buckey in 2.07.2. On Thursday evening Gerald Robinson started off the night with two wins.
