Stone, was present at the, ^Thursday meeting in the I Pines School regarding the Rice Mobile Home development development and spoke in agreement for such a scheme. He pointed out that he and his wife were interested in the development in Sandy Cove being of retirement age and 'had visited the development on two occasions speaking with local residents of the mobile home park. He said he was impressed with the development and its operation and had found no one in the park opposed to either phases of the plan. He said his last visit to Sandy Cove reaffirmed his original feelings and he found the place even more beautiful than the first time when construction was still underway. underway. He also said he was agreeable to the terms under which the development operates operates and found no discord to this at Sandy Cove. Mayor Rickard then stated that as he (Mr. Stone) was from Oshawa he would make it a point to tell Mayor Potticary that Oshawa should have such a development. Board to study newcastle pool plan The Town of Newcastle has tentatively approved a proposal proposal from the Newcastle Social Planning Council which a swimming pool and squash courts would be built adjacent to the Bowmanville High School. Council has sent the proposal to the Board of Education who have turned the matter over to their Liason Committee with Recreational Recreational Commissions for study and a report. The social Planning council in their submission points to a need for an additional indoor pool in Bowmanville. The Council points to the successful successful operation of such developments developments in the Town of Uxbridge Uxbridge and at Dunbarton. They state a considerable amount of funds are now available and grants would also be available for such a project. The Dunbarton Indoor pool was built two years ago on leased land from the Board of Education at a cost of $250,000. It is used during the day by the school who rent the facility from the Town. The Town operates and maintains the pool providing its use to the general public during non-school periods. In 1974 it cost the Town a sum of $35,000 Marion McKelvey After a few weeks of serious illness Marion McKelvey K.N. passed away at the Oshawa General Hospital on September September 18, 1975. Marion was born at Kendal the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McKelvey (Janet Stewart). Later the family moved to Kirby. After attending Kirby Public Public School and Orono Continuation Continuation School she trained for a nurse in Ross Memorial Hospital Lindsay. After graduation graduation in 1930 she did private nursing for a number of years and later worked for five years at the Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. On leaving Bowmanville she was employed at Sunny- brook Hospital in Toronto where she served her profes- above revenue from rent and other charges. The Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education Education stated they would have an answer to the Town very shortly when discussions could could continue, over the proposal. mou lailhfully for eighteen years (hi retirement from Sunny- brook Hospital she lived with her brother John who. survives survives her. She was a member of the Kirby United Church and was a devoted member of the U.C.W. and also took part, in other community activities. The funeral service was conducted by her minister who spoke of her devotion as a nurse and her help to many people in times of illness. The many floral tributes spoke of the esteem of her many friends and neighbours and there were a number of | donations to the Canadian! Cancer Society. Sid Rutherford.
