Kendal News Alter a very rainy month of September it looks like a beautiful month of October WERE SURE THAT WE CAN PUL THE BILL, WITH MODERATE PEES PLUS OUR GREAT Orville Chatterton Electrical Contracting Phone 983-5546 or 983-5940 Orono, Ontario / GAVE MY JOB a UP THE OTHER S day, '/omr WANT TO KEEP A HORSE OUT OF WORK ahead. At nine this morning the temperature given was sixteen celcius, my favourite temperature because that means sixty one on my thermometer. I ran outside to check, "Yes exactly sixty- one". When the announcer says nineteen I just wish it l was ninety one but I know it isn't. So I must multiply nineteen by two and add the anwere to thirty making sixty eight. Good practice in mental arithmetic. Mr. and Mrs. T. Stevens and her sister Mrs. Porteous of Winnipeg and Mr. and Mrs. J. Cook of Orono are motoring to Yarmouth Nova Scotia to visit >Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hamilton and family. Mrs. Hamilton was Mary Stevens. Mrs. J. Hellebust is staying at the farm while they are away. Visitors with Miss C. Stewart Stewart on Sunday were Mrs. A. Hills of Bowman ville, Mrs. Richardson of Arizona and :Mr. and Mrs. F. Graham of Kirby. Last Sunday morning was a perfect day for Kirby Anniversary. Anniversary. We hope next Sunday will be as fine for Kendal Anniversary. Kirby's guest speaker was Rev. John Hunter Hunter of Aurora United Church, his grandfather, John Hunter, had accepted Christ in Kirby Church as a boy of fifteen at nineteen he the only son left his father's farm to attend Trinity College Cobourg and became a minister. Rev. J. Hunter and Rev. Crossley formed an evangelistic team. Crossley was a tenor soloist. They toured Canada many times. OUr speaker's father was named Crossley Hunter. He served in many churches beginning in the horse arid buggy days near Uxbridge. Many interesting antedotes were told by his son. The theme of his sermon centred around the text, "How can I sing the Lord's songs in a strange land?" It left us with many sound ideas to ponder. Rev. G. Montgomery told the children the story of James Evans and the Cree alphabet which he himself had learned several years ago. He was able to read for them a poster telling the Indians to put water on their camp fires and stamp them out. This was most interesting Next Sunday is Kendal Anniversary Anniversary when special music will be given by the Garden Hill choir and Rev. E. Schamerhorn B.A.,B.D. of St. Paul's United Church Bow- manville will be the speaker. We are most fortunate in securing such a talented man. Let us hope we have a full church at 2:30 p.m. Bring your families to this afternoon service. It is interesting to notice the new barns being built by the new people coming into our community. Two such barns are that of Mr. O. Eberhart who purchased the Zeus property a year ago and Mr. A. Munro who has begun the erection of his barn to keep his riding horses sheltered.
