The two boys have just finished registering registering their feat with Mrs. L. Bourne, also of Bowmanville who was looking after the final check point at St. Saviours Church in Orono. In place of Mr. Moffatt will be Mr. Ray Simser, who was appointed by the Board of Education. Mr. Simser has a family with three boys, Jeff, 13; Brad, 10; and Jamie, 7 years old. They live in Trenton, and have not yet moved. At Murray Centennial Public School Mr. Simser was Vice-Principal for 3 years. Before that he taught elementary elementary for 9M. years, and later became chairman of geography geography for 5 Ma years, in North York. Mr. Simser's hobbies are fishing, raising tropical fish, hiking, curling, bowling, and kids. When we asked him what he thought about the school, the people, and surroundings he replies that, "it is a pleasure to be here meeting interesting people, and lovely children!" He also said that he liked being principal at our school "very much indeed!" By Sherry Nancekievill Kathy Bambrick DOUG MOFFATT Mr. Doug Moffatt, former principal of Orono Public School, is now an M.P.P. working in Toronto at the Legislature. Mr. Moffatt was born in Pickering on July the 5th, 1937. He said he will miss his job and the people he worked with and I'm sure we will all miss him. He has been working as principal in Orono for nine (9) years. Mr. Moffatt has had a public meeting to discuss the future of Highway 115 which the Department of Highways has been planning to make safer and is interested in other community affairs. Mr. Moffatt hopes to be able to help the people of Durham East with their problems and although he doesn't really know he thinks his job will be a fairly steady one.
