The region's public works committee voted Thursday to recommend that Durham join TATOA unconditionally, even though regional council has twice previously rejected the move outright. Council has refused to join the transportation planning body because of the stipulation stipulation that Chairman Walter Beath would be designated the region's representative. Councillors feel they should have the right to appoint their own delegate. Coun. John Goodwin (Whitby) (Whitby) sponsored the works recommendation yesterday, and while he admitted he didn't like doing it, he was O.P.P. News During the period 14 October October 1975 to the 19th October 1975 the Ontario Provincial Police at Newcastle investigated 11 motor vehicle accidents. These These accidents which caused injury to 10 persons, resulted in four charges being laid, two of which were Careless Driving. Driving. Some of these occurrences were as follows : There were three investigations into offences of Wilful Damage, two investigations investigations into offences of Theft and four investigations into offences of Break and Enter. Eight persons have been charged with offences under the Liquor Control Act, six persons have been charged with Impaired Driving, one person has been charged with Driving While Under suspension, suspension, and two persons have been charged with offences under the Criminal Code. During the night of October 17th thieves broke into Larry's Larry's Sports and Marine Centre on Highway 2 just east of Oshawa. These persons made off with more than $3,000.00 in guns and an unknown quantity quantity of ammunition. Since investigation to-date has not revealed the identity of the persons responsible, it is requested that anyone having information which might assist in . solving this crime to please call the Ontario Provincial Police at 623-3384. The new park will incorporate a local and historical landmark, the grist mill which was built in 1871. The project will employ six people and is being funded by $21,450. The Alberville Indian Band of Roseneath is sponsoring The Alberville Band to construct construct a docking facility for 20 boats and to repair the community centre. These projects are expected to begin in a few weeks and! will employ presently unemployed unemployed people through the Canada Manpower Centres.
