WANT TO KNOW SIZE OF COURTICE It was pointed out to the Newcastle Town council last week that the Courtice water and sewage system would be part of a three community system including not only Courtice but Oshawa and Whitby. Mr. Richardson said the committee was using a figure of 46,000 people for the Courtice area as a basis in plannig for the three communities. communities. He said that the Regional Public Works must proceed with the planning for Whitby and Oshawa and requested that the Town of Newcastle arrive at the number of people they want in Courtice within the next six months. "We will need the figures by that time", he said. He did point out that trunk lines for 46,000 people was not that much more than for 20,000 people. It was further pointed out that Oshawa was presently paying for the possible oversizing of services to the Courtice area. •••••••••••« POSSIBLE NO ROADS BEING CLOSED (Continued from page 1) Residents of the Co-op road east of Highway 115 also opposed the closing of the road stating it was much more safe to enter Highway 115 at the Co-op intersection rather than at the Curvply intersection. They spoke of the road not being plowed at certain times during the winter and the fact that vision was not that good at the Curvply intersection as well as there was a down grade at this point. The group did enjoy a bountiful pot luck supper both for adults and children alike. The plant was built for 5000 using averasge useage basis but due to the fact that the per person usage factor is above average in Newcastle the plant has had to be down rated.
