The snow ploughs were busy all the next day pushing it away. On Saturday afternoon it rained and froze. Cars couldn't climb the hills. Sunday Sunday was mild and balmy. On Monday all the snow was gone. A birthday party was held at the home of Mr. Allen Foster in honour of his mothers 89th birthday. Her birthday was Dec. 12 but the celebration was held on Sunday. Sunday. Her three daughters and their husbands were there. They are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Short of Barrie, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Russo of Buffalo and Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Walsh of Victoria. The Kendal members members of her family attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ned Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster, Mrs. Hatcher Foster. Also Mrs. Mariette and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kennedy and girls. She enjoyed the party and we wish her a Happy New Year. An excellent Christmas Concert Concert was held in Kendal Church on Saturday evening. The little folks gave the Christmas story in picture on the flannel board in songs and instrumentals. We have twelve twelve taking music lessons and able to perform in a very talented manner. The Helbe- bust boys led by Rolf at the piano sang. Robin Ibbotson and Corine Turansky played the "Little Drummer Boy" on their clarinets while Jackie Turansky kept time with the bells. The Shepherd in beautiful beautiful costumes sang carols. The entrance of Jolly Old St. Nicholas and his eight "Giant" "Giant" reindeer drawn on a sled was something you would have to see to believe. The parents enjoyed the carol singing led by Mr. Danny Foster of Peterboro and his . many beautiful solos. Those that braved the ice and came were well rewarded. Santa arrived and passed out fifty bags of candy. Mr. Densil Dale was our speaker who gave the message message on Sunday. It was White Gift Sunday and each child brought a gift of money for missions. Rev. G. Montgomery Montgomery expects to be in his pulpit on Christmas Sunday, Dec. 21. Let us all be there to celebrate the birth of Christ. Tattersall and her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Mullen of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Howson and Mr. James Hoy. Also Mr. and Mrs. Len Hoy. The funeral of Mrs. G. Malcolmson of Bethany was held in the Elliott funeral Parlours Bowmanville on Saturday Saturday afternoon Dec. 13. She was the youngest sister of the late Mrs. Robert Cathcart of Kendal. Interment was in the Fallis cemetery. Mrs. Edna Winn and her daughter Bernice spent Saturday Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. G. Cathcart. On December 3 fourteen ladies and two children enjoyed enjoyed a pot luck dinner at twelve noon at the home of Mrs. K. Wood. Afterwards we adjourned adjourned to the living room and Mrs. J. Stapleton opened our meeting with carol singing accompanied by Mrs. K. Wood followed by a Christmas prayer. Then she called on each member for a number. Poems, stories and crafts were shown. Everyone was interested in a binder twine holder for a potted plant which Mrs E. Foster made as the ladies watched. Then the plant could hang from the ceiling. Moved by Mrs. E. Foster seconded by Mrs. J. Carscad den that all officers continue in the same offices for a second year. Carried. Moved by Miss C. Stewart sec. by Mrs. R. Elliott that a cross, a memorial book and iin engraved plate with eight names on it be purchased, (tarried. One hundred dollars was given to the church and fifteen dollars to the Bible Society. Another gift was also planned. Gifts were exchanged. Lisa Hoy played an instrumental instrumental on the piano. Then all enjoyed carol singing till it was time to depart. Mrs. Mary Henderson returned returned home from Bowmanville Bowmanville Hospital last Tuesday where she had been a patient for a week. We hope she is feeling much better. Mrs. Bertha White has also been a patient in the Hospital, having surgery. We hear she came home yesterday. Hope she has a quick recovery. Mrs. R. Youman and Mrs. Dora Morris enjoyed early Christmas dinner at Dora's brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harold Youman of Toronto on Sunday, also attending was her sister from Durham. Dora and Mrs. Youman stayed overnight, and went to her bridge club and visited other nieces in Toronto returning home Monday evening. On Sunday we were delighted delighted to have Eric Lambier read the Christmas Story in Brail for us at Church. .Miss Susan' Ball and Mr. Les Ilrebicek of Toronto spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ball. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ball visited Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Santo, Oshawa.
