On Monday evenings 36 young energentic boys from the 1st Orono Cub Pack gather in the Main Hall at the Orono United Church for a fun night. The season got underway on Sept, 22nd, with 15 cubs returning from last year, these boys were joined with 5 transfers from other cub packs. The first work project of the ' season was a successful bottle drive which was held on Sept. 27th, An impressive swim-up ceremony ceremony was held at the end of September where 7 beavers were welcomed to the cub pack. Cub books were presented presented to the boys by the group committee as well as gifts from their leaders and beaver friends. Registrations were held on Oct. 6th where new boys were introduced into the cub pack. On October 20th a going-up ceremony was held and 4 boys entered the Orono Scout Troop. The cubs and scouts joined together on Oct. 25th for the West Durham District Apple Day. Total receipts for this 'were $308.59 of which our group receive 40 per cent after expenses The Orono cubs were guests of 4th Bowmanville Cub Pack for a very enjoyable Halloween Halloween Party. 'How to Use a Sixer's Council' was the training course attended by Orono leaders in Port Hope on October 30th. During November the inspection inspection charts and star work were introduced to the boys, as well as two new ladies. We sincerely hope Gail Pooler and Marilyn Garrison will enjoy cubs and be invested as leaders in the New Year. Investiture Ceremonies were were held for 17 boys who became' members of the Boy Scouts of Canada. Cub Akela attended a Trainings Trainings session on Play acting, music and story telling on NoV 15th in Trenton. A fun night of swimming was enjoyed by the boys and leaders at. the Pine Ridge , School at the end of November. November. Slides on previous Pine- wood Derby Car Races were shown and the kits handed out for the pack race which is to be held on Jan. 24th. The cubs enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus who handed out candy canes to all present. Later the Scout Troop joined with the cubs for a film and refreshments.
