Saturday Jan: 17 was the coldest for that date, in one hundred and ten years, 20 degrees below fahrenheit or minus 29 C. On Sunday morning the car would not change gears, so some families families could not get to church. The friends of Mr, Thos; Stevens were shocked to hear that he had passed away suddenly January 17th as he went to feed his live stock,He was seventy-six years of age born in Manitoba. He graduated graduated from the Winnipeg Normal Normal School. Then he went to Norway House north of Lake Winnipeg and taught Indian boys in the Methodist mission school there for one year. There he met his future wife, Margretta Bagshaw who was teaching Indian children at the Anglican Mission five miles north of Norway House. In Toronto he attended Ufii- veristÿ till he obtained his B.A. He became a high school teacher married, and raised his family of. four. After retiring he moved to his farm at Kendal where he has taken a very active part in the ' church and community. He was chairman of Kendal Church Board. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Margretta, his son James, professor at Guelph University, University, Mrs. Geo.Hamilton (Mary (Mary 1 of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Scotia, Mrs. John Hellebust (Dorothy) (Dorothy) of Toronto and John a veterinary doctor in Ottawa. One killed in 115 accident ■ ■ v ' One person is dead and 11 others are injured as a result of area traffic accidents during the past week. A 35 year old Peterborough man was killed on 17 Jan. '76 at approximately 6 :45 p.in. on Highway 35 just south of the junction of Highway 35 and 11.5, when the vehicle he was operating was in collision with a southbound vehicle on the southbound lane. Dead is Peter Hans LAMPS, of 2596 Rich Top Crescent, Peterborough, Ontario. Ontario. The driver of the southbound southbound vehicle, Silvano NOV- ACCO, 30 years of Toronto, and his passenger Paulette MATHESON, 26 years of Toronto, were injured and taken to the Oshawa General Hospital. This accident is being investigated by Provincial Constable R. J. McLeod of Newcastle Ontario Provincial Police.
