The visiting visiting students, at least fifty, from Ridgewood were paying their visit to Clarke on an interchange between the musical musical groups of the two schools. The Ridgewood musicians arrived in the area on' Thursday afternoon and met with the Clarke counterparts for what turned out to be an most active two-day visit. Max St. Thomas in a very eloquent manner. Describing Grand Lodge officers as very generous, generous, men, he noted they give unselfishly of their time for the betterment of all men. The reply was made by Rt. Wor. Bro. Wilbur Dickinson. He spoke of the importance of the Bible in our lives and at our lodge meetings. Noting ' that Masonry is not a secret society, he urged all Masons to be proud of their order and act as pillars of society. Bro. Bob, Rosséau then formally extended a toast to all ladies which was warmly received. Mrs. Margaret Henderson Henderson replied graciously and accepted a beautiful bouquet of roses. After a draw for the many floral «centre-pieces, Wor. Bro. Wayne Bailey introduced introduced Master Gordon O'Brien. Gordon, a nine year old^ classical 'guitarist, treated the assembly to several selections. He, was followed by Mr. Lloyd Libke who showed slides of Tanzania and Williamson Diamond Mine. Mine. He and his wife had lived there for two years while he assisted in setting up a secifrjty force. The visitors from Illinois provided a most interesting program of music displaying great ability and discipline. The Clarke band also did exceptionally well. The Ridgewood Jazz Band in their few selections also displayed their knowledge of 'music and their ability with their particular instruments. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a musical score written by Mr. Frank Haworth of Harwood, Harwood, - Pine Ridge". The number was first ably played by the Clarke band before presentation to the Ridgewood Ridgewood Band. Kirk Entwisle stated stated he felt a second copy should be obtained for the Planning Department and that they ask the Region for a second free copy. Throughout the program a number of solos by Orono skaters displayed the ability of local performers and the advancement they have made throughout the year. Performing were David and Amy Martin of Lindsay as well as Barbara Underhill and Jim Sorochan of the Oshawa Figure Skating Club. Mayor Rickard pointed out that each copy does cost the Region around $20.00 and these are compiled at least twenty-six times during the year. Couhc. Ivan Hobbs pointed out that the Region was truely trying ' to save money and this was one area they had cut back. On further' discussion the Town will make no request upon the Region for a second copy but will have one of the local members file their copy in the Town Office.
