Let us hope the peach and apple ' blossoms are unharmed. Kendal Women's Institute held their annual Penny Sale last Saturday night. The' Dresden Plate quilt was won by Mrs. James English of R. R. 2, Newcastle. The beautiful crocheted Afghan came to Mrs. Brian Foster while the lucky ticket holder on the lamp was Mrs. Lylle Carroll of Kendal. A week ago Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wood took a motor trip down to Kentucky. Five ladies from Kendal went to Newcastle oil April 20 to hear Mrs. Robert Brawn, the minister's wife from Port Perry give a thanksgiving message to the U.C.W. , * Kendal Women's Institute met at the home of Mrs. Reg. Elliott on April *21. There were fifteen members present. It was mentioned that it was iQueen Elizabeth's birthday. Then we discovered that two of our members also had birthdays on that day. So ye sang ' "Happy Birthday to Mrsi Margaretta Stevens and also to Mrs. Lorna Dennis." The minutes were read by Mrs. W. Turansky. It was agreed that the same officers be re-instated. The roll call was a current event. The District Annual is in Trinity United Church, Bow- manville* on May 11. Two members voluntered to conduct conduct the memorial service at the district Annual; Fifteen paid their membership. The Penny collection was taken. A bake sale is to be held at Miss Elva Reid's \ntique shop on May 29 at ten a.m. sponsored by the Institute. Plans were made for the Penny Sale. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. T. Gosson and Mrs. J. Stapleton. Mr, Roy Mercer has been hospitalized due to a serious heart condition. We are glad to hear that at the time of writing that he is improving. His many friends, at Kendal, wieh him a speedy recovery. A fine service was held in Kendal church on Sunday morning Rev. G. Montgomery Montgomery spoke on "What difference difference has Easter made?" It made a tremendous difference difference to a few people. Loving ones neighbour was not a lost cause. Easter changed the lives of a great many people. Many people in the Christian fellowship because of the resurrection follow Christ in spite of all frustrations they carry on. We may walk as He walked and witness even as He did. Next Sunday May 2 is a very, special United Church Women's Thankoffering Service Service to which all men and women are invited at the regular hour of jl : 15 a.m. The message will be brought by Mr. R. V. Sheffield of Simcoe Street United Church Osh- awa, convenor of Christian and Missionary Education in the Oshawa Presbyterial, & a former President of the Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W Mrs. Jack Fonk will sing a solo. We are hoping for a full church. ' Nancy Brennan of Montreal visited Terry 'Moffatt last week end. Resignations at the Pines , Lee Burrows and Janet Dykeman have both resigned from the staff at the Pines Senior Public School with resignations to become effective effective as of June 30th, 1976.
