The four girls that were selected to compete further were Sherry Nancekievill, Lynn Williams, Janette Armstrong and Kelly Hall. Each of the nine competitors did their routines twice. The four girls will compete again in Bow- manville High School on Wednesday, April 28 at 2:15. When Gary Eames, one of the judges told the girls they were selected, they were very excited. The students are very grateful to Mrs. Joan Dermo and Mr. Grant Yeo for their help and the time they spent with them. by Sherry Nancekievill NATIONAL SECRETARIES ASSOC. Mrs. Beryl Clark, the secretary at Orono Public School spent Saturday in Belleville for the annual meeting of the National Secretaries Association. 120 secretaries attended the meeting. meeting. DRAW In Mr. Yeo's class during the Fun Fair their was a draw for 4 wintario tickets and 2 surprise packages. The tickets tickets were sold at $.25 each and they were drawn every 15 minutes. The winners for the two surprise packages were Steven Nancekievill and Mrs. Fran Lunn. The four luckÿ winners for the wintario tickets were Bob Miles, Nei Rosseau, Janice Williams and Jeff Teravanian. It was a smashing success. . t . PENNY SALE Mrs. Lunn's class had a Penny Sale at the Fun Fair. Their were 69 articles drawn. This event was another another smashing success. CAKE DRAW Mrs. Deremo's grades 3 and 4 had a cake draw. Mrs. Joe Walker made a lamb shaped cake for the draw. The tickets were sold for $.25 each..Mr. Gray won this cake. The class raised $16.00. ■, By Kathy Barnbrick FUN FAIR On the 22nd of April during the Fun Fair the school was packed full of hundreds of people who came to have fun. Mr. J. R. Simser, the principal of Orono Public School said, "The Fun Fair • was a big success". The profit raised was approximately $500.00. This money will go towards new • outdoor equipment equipment for the school. Mr. Simser thanks the teachers, students and parent volunteers volunteers for helping. A special thanks to the people who came to make the Fun Fair such a success. By Annette Stephenson CURVPLY On Monday the 26th of April the grade 6 students of Orono Public School went on a trip to the two curvply plants, first they went to the North end Plant and Plydesigns. There they saw how the workers sawed the very thin sheets of wood, glue the sheets together and make the sheets different j lengths, widths and thicknesses. thicknesses. They also saw how they upholstered furniture and rl,K i y saw the actual finished product. They got samples of .the sheets of wood and buttons. In the North end Plant Mr. Mathers was the guide. The students thank him very much. At the South end Plant they saw how they made chairs, and how they . varnish wood. Just before they left the South Plant they received a wood pdate. The students thank Mrs.Lunn for spending her time to .take them to the plants. By Jo-Anne Danilko Clarke High School Kin - Kinette Clarke raised $6,131. in their magazine campaign which began on April 8 and ended on April 20. The money was raised in an effort to support the transportation of Clarkes team and field trips. The need to supply money, from within the school was the result of a budget cut. The school budget was cut from $66.00 per student to $42.00 per student. ' * BAND AND CHOIR'S FIRST RECORD On Monday, April 26, Clarke's Clarke's Senior, Intermediate and Junior Band, and the stage band as well as the Junior Choir, combined choir and senior choir recorded a re- ' cord. ANNUAL TRACK MEET ■ Next Tuesday, May 4th Clarke will hold its annual track meet. All the home rooms at the school belong to either a blue, white or gold house. On Tuesday, the three houses will compete in track and field events. BOOKMOBILE VISITS CLARKE The Bookmobile made its second stop of the year at Clarke on Monday April 26 .and Tuesday April 27. The Bookmobile is a trailer filled with books which students Soundings KINETTES HOLD SUCCESSFUL BAKE SALE AND TEA The Kinettes' enjoyed a successful bake sale and tea last Saturday'afternoon.
