Mr. & Mrs. Norman Alger journeyed to Stratford last week-end to attend a funeral. An inspirational service was held in Kendal Church on Sunday. It was the United Church Women's first Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Service, An invitation was sent to each woman in the community to attend. Mrs. Alice Sheffield was the guest speaker. She is convenor of Christian and Missionary Education Education in the Oshawa Presb- yterial Ü.C.W. Her topic was entitled "Spring cleaning". There are certain things we must throw away and other things we must keep. She stressed the good work our church was doing for the Indian girls that come to Toronto in Friendship House. The work in other countries must not be throyvn out. The money we put aside for disaster relief in places like Guatemala is very necessary. However if we do not provide the funds some of these good causes must be cancelled. She mentioned the need of each woman to have a little time each day for ourselves, to read the scripture to meditate . Mrs. J. Stapleton, Kendal U.C.W. President, thanked Mrs. Sheffield arid gave her a small gift to remind her of her visit to Kendal. We were indeed pleased to see those front other places at the service. Next Sunday will be Mother's Mother's Day. Two babies will be baptised at Kendal if there are others get in touch with thè minister or Mrs. E. Foster.
