EAGLES SCORE TWO WEEK END VICTORIES Kendal Eagles had two convincing victories over Whitby this past week-end. On Saturday, in Whitby, Kendal defeated Whitby 11 - 6, while back in Kendal on Sunday, they scored a 13 - 4 victory; Mike Carman and Eric Moore turned in a good pitching performance on Saturday while Ralph Kennedy pitched nine strong innings on Sunday allowing only two earned runs and striking out eleven. Leading hitters for the Eagles on Sunday were: Dan Norton, 4 hits & 1 rbi; Fraser Wallace and Pete Henderson, 2 hits and 2 rbi each; and Steve West with 2 hits. On Sunday Pete Henderson had 4 hits and 1 rbi; Bill McCullough and Steve West with 3 hits and 2 rbi; Bernie Allred, 3 hits and 1 rbi; and Dan Norton, Tom Wallace and Doug Richard, all with 2 hits. In the sixth race Newman placed second driving Challenge and West placed third driving Lilli MacAnn. Gerald Robinson came in fourth in the seventh race driving Arkansas Traveller and also placed fifth in the eight race driving Roger land, Saturday, June 5th saw more action at the Kawartha. In the first race of the evening Derek Newman placed fifth driving Mary Misty and Gerald Robinson came in seventh driving Tough Gier. In the third race Newman again had a showing and placed second driving Frosty Sterling. Jack Williams driving his own horse Harwill Pete placed sixth in the same race. RECREATION league standings SOCCER LEAGUE by Tony Day The recreation soccer league started June 1st with teams from Bowmanyille, Orono, Newtonville, Newcastle & Tyrone competing in two division representing iproximately 200 young people. " Judging by the first games it will be an enjoyable season for spectators and players alike. Though one team often looses on the scoreboard as young sportsmen they all gain, for instance when Waverly was defeated in their first game they still had three cheers for the victors, Mastrangelos. Sixty-nine projects selected from 117 submissions from community colleges, universities universities and recognized environmental environmental agencies will provide valuable information relating to air, water and noise pollution and studifes in methods methods of energy conservation and environmental health hazards at an estimated cost of $560,000. . Experience '76 is diversified diversified and students involved in the program gain meaningful summer employment , and experience in career-oriented reasearch and field study. Each project is supervised by a professor or active staff member of the host school or agency and an Environment Ontario liaison officer is appointed to co-ordinate funding funding and data collection. Research results are compiled compiled and often published in pamphlets and reports available available to the public and to environmental agencies for information and education. The effects of this research are far reaching in the investigation or environmental environmental contaminants and the recovery and harnessing of our diminishing environmental environmental resources.
