AA&M Variety Wrap Up Lobb Bail Season Monday night staged what was to be the last game of the 1976 Lobb Ball season. On stage were Cannon plumbing versus M &. M Variety. During the early moments of the game Cannon Plumbing shot ahead in the scoring with a 10-run inning. As they were up to hat first this ganie M & M a rude awakening, however when M & M got their batters up they najjowed the lead, being 10-7 at the end ofLhe first inning. The rest of the game was tight with the teams staying only a few runs apart. The final inning was played only on . the top half and this declared M & M the winners with a score of 20-17. This wraps up the Lobb Ball season in Orono with M & M variety taking the winners position. This season fourteen teams played in the league and next year it is expected to that even more teams will be signed up. Much of the credit for the success of the league should gp to Wayne Martin; who last year started the league and this year sat in the president's chair. Without his decided guidance and dedication to the sport, it would not have been thé success it has been. For those interested, a Lobb Ball party is to be held on October 22nd. It is not definite at this time as to where it will be held, but rumor has it that it will be in Newcastle. Watch'the paper for further notice. INDOOR SOCCER The Department of Parks and Recreation would like to start a Men's Indoor Soccer League and a Childrens Indoor Soccer League. Clarke Orienteers Host Ontario Championships Light Costs High Newcastle recreation department department will investigate why it costs twice as much to light Orono Park' for one month as it does for the entire year at Memorial park. À spokesman for the department department said Orono's Park's lighting bill for the first month of operation was $146.39. In comparison the cost of lighting Memorial Park in Bowmanville was $67.40 for, the year. New iodine-type lights were installed in Orono two months ago. While the number of actual lights here is greater than in Bowmanville, the cost differences differences should not be that much said the spokesman. A report will be presented to Newcastle's community service committee at thëir next meeting. .< FLOWING! It was here that the Clarke Orienteering Orienteering Club was host to the 10th annual Ontario Orienteering-Championships. Orienteering-Championships. During During a weekend of mixed feather, runners from as far away as Newfoundland, U.S.A. and Quebec competed in various categories for winning positions. Saturday after the pacing was completed a banquet was held at the Kirby Public School. After the banquet 1 , awards were presented by Doug Moffatt, the Durham) East N.D.P. member of parliament. During these presentations presentations several Clarke members received trophies, being: Doug Winterhelt, 2nd Mens Open; Risto Santala, 12th senior men; Gord Blak- er, 9th Junior men; Denise de Mont, 1st Ladies open; Greg Lowery, llth Boys under 14; Rainer Santala, 14th Boys under 14. f Sundays activities inlcuded relay courses and at the end of the day-more awards and trophies were presented.
