Nite Crowd More Or on o Fair RESULTS Last Saturday night Pieter Lill and his mobile movie house moved into the town hall for art evening of delight for about 30 youngsters in the area. Last Saturday's feature was "The World's Greatest Athelete". According to the village critics (the youngsters that attended), the movie was exceptionally funny and very much enjoyed. Pieter and his mobile movie house will bring movies into the village every other Satur- day night from/ now till December. Then a break will occur and he will start showing in March and continue continue until May. As well as catering to the younger generation with Wall Disney movies, their will also be double features and some occasions that will be" of interest to some of the older people of the town. OPR ' r : ' 'y', - -A" • | Report During the past week the Ontario Provincial Police at Newcastle investigated 20 motor vehicle collisions and over 100 general occurrences. These 20 accidents resulted in injury to 4 persons and investigations have resulted in 5 persons being charged under the Highway Traffic ' Act. The general occurrences included offences such as break and enter, theft, wilful damage and assault. As a result of investigations into these occurrences 4 persons have been charged with offences against the Criminal Code. Other charges this week included 5 impaired driving charges and 6 offences against against the Liquor Licence Act. FAT CALF SHOW The Fat Calf Show was held on September 10th, 1976 and was sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food; the Durham County Cattleman's Association replacing replacing the Durham County Beef Improvement Association Association and Mr. George Carson. H. STUTT E. J. STUTT The Oshawa Symphony Association Association elected Ruth Milne as chairman of the board of directors for the 1976-77 season Tuesday Sept, 21. Mrs. Milne first became involved with the Symphony Association in 1970. During the first season she served on the publicity committee followed followed by two seasons as editor of the concert programs. programs. In 1973 she was hired as executive director of the association and served in that ^posjtion for one year followed by two more years on the board. Her involvement as a past director has reinforced her thoughts about the symphony being a viable force fulfilling a real need in the community. "I've come to realize the importance of the orchestra in the community in providing providing a recreational outlet for local talent and the pleasurable' pleasurable' music ; experience it brings to the populace," she 'said. Her new tasks involve assisting in the direction of the board and various committee's committee's made up of the board. Mrs. Milne would like to see supporters of the sumphony getting involved with the volunteer committee in dealing dealing with short 'term projects. Some of the goals she hopes to encourage the board with are participation of local musicians in the orchestra and greater fund raising campaigns such as the dream auction scheduled for October 6, 7 and 8th. Mrs. Milne was elected chairman after Hugh Couch had completed his term of office and stepped down as chairman of the board. "I admire many of the* things Hugh achieved with. the board. I'd like to continue on with Hugh's insight in directing the board," she said. A former high school English. English. teacher in Oshawa, Mrs. 1 Milne is now presently working working as supervisor of the public relations department of General General Motors.
