Orono Weekly Times* Wednesday, October 20th, 1976 Wi I irepai r arena for winter use Some sixty residents of Orono and area gave unanim- . ous support on Sunday evening evening at a meeting in the Orono Town Hall to have repairs made immediately in order that the Orono arena may be in operation this winter. During the course of the meeting those attending were informed of the recommendations recommendations of the engineers to' repairs needed for winter use of the building. It was estimated that the cost of the repairs would be in the neighbourhood of $25,000 and of this amount $6,250 would have to be raised within the Orono area through donations or through voluntary labour. In a report, given by a representative from Totten, Sims and Hubicki, it was stated that repairs to the floor, main arch supports and cement anchor pads were necessary in order to have the arena open this season. The biggest event of the day was to find some wood that "real" beavers had prepared for their lodge. All the boys carried this wood home and will take it to their Beaver meeting Monday night.
