Mr, Gord Lowery stated that it was going to cost the Association Association some $6,000 for ice time on a ten hour a week basis at Darlington and that the Association did not have this amount of money. He said the Association was able to raise money through the operation of the local arena by renting ice time to other groups. It was pointed out that the Athletic charged the Skpting club $13.00 an hour while in Dalrington they would have to pay the rate of $30.00 an hour. Mr. Lowery said there, would ■ be no • problem in' getting voluntary held to assist with the repairs . The repairs will only be good for the one year and then a new arena will be needed to take the place of the presnet building. Thé special committee will call another public meeting at which time the construction of a new arena will be considered. A decision will be made on whether it will be strictly an arena or an arena-community centre complex. Methods of financing financing will also be decided, The meeting on Sunday evening was informed that a new arena-community centre complex estimated to ■ cost $550,000 would need support financially from the local arena in an amount of $178,500.00. Mr. Doug Moffatt in speaking on this matter said the problem was not as great when one considered ' that it may only mean $100 to $150 for every family in the area and that such a sum of money should "be realized through a fund raising campaign. campaign. Mr. Douglas Simpson .declared .declared his candidacy for the municipal council seat in Ward three. Mr. Simpson has • spent well over ten years active on the Police Village trustees as well as a similar •term with the Orono Hydro Commission. He operates his own business within the village and for the past two years has been president of the Orono and Area Chamber of Commerce.
