There was a full church at ■ Newtonville Anniversary when the singing was led by the male choir. They gave us three selections: "Mansions over the hilltop", "God will take care of you" and "How great Thou art". They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. K- Wood. Mrs. M. Kloster played for the hymns. Rev. A. Tizzard had had one hundred and thirty halloween callers so he told the children a story about, "False faces". His sermon was based on Genesis 28: 10 - 22 and entitled "A Vital Change". Next Sunday church apd- Sunday School will be held at Kendal at 11:15 a.m. We hope to see all the Sunday school boys and girls at church. Miss Margaret Senes, Peterborough, Peterborough, is visisting her sister Mrs. R. Elliott while Reg is away at the hunt camp. Mr. Don Henderson has his leg in a cast. He climbed up to the roof at the first of last month, the ladder broke and he fell to the ground. We wish him a perfect recovery. Mrs. K- Dykeman, Mrs. R. Elliott; Mrs. E. Foster, Mrs. G. Cathcart and Miss Ç. Stewart attended the "Run Fair" put on by the ladies of Durham West Institutes in Nestleton last Tuesday, Oct. 26. Kendal put on a skit entitled, "Eggs." Shiloh held a; very fine bazaar la$t Saturday. There was a wqnderful display of cooking. Kendal United ... Church bazaar will be he) Saturday, Nov. 13th at 2 p.bk_ Outdoor skating rink approved for Kendal Our October Parent Teachers Teachers Action Group meeting was held at Kendal School with some 25 parents and 5 teachers in attendance. A hot lunch of sloppy joes was served at both schools and a committee was formed to be in charge of the next one in November. Permission was received for an outdoor skating rink to be installed at Kendal School at our expense and which will be made and maintained by volunteer parents. Our thanks go out to these people who donate their time. The rink at Kirby has always been a successs with the children and is used on the week-ends as well. Last year our committee raised enough money for a wall gym which has now been installed. This unit folds flat to the wall when not in use so that it does not take up any floor space in the gym. Mrs. Bap lie is donating a new supply of sand for the Kendal sand box. The Yoga classes at Kendal school are well attended. This was one of thb courses offered for night school and is taught by Mrs. Sÿlvia Parker. October 23rd a sports equipment equipment sale was held at Kirby School and everything was brought in on consignment. Ten per cent of the selling price went to our committee. Some ladies from the Orono Hockey Mothers set up a table also with items left from their sale held a week ago. Coffee, freshie and donuts were sold by our committee. Our combined Open House and Meet the Teachers Night prb Ved to be a huge success. Parents of Kendal students visited there at 6:30 to see the school and discuss their children's agenda. Mrs. Bal- son's grade 1 class served coffee and chocolate macaroons macaroons which the children made, and Mrs. Hoy's class, grade 2-3, served coffee and muffins. From there all parents met in the Kirby gym which was full to capacity. He also drew our attention to the new wall gym which was on display. Mr, Gleibs then discussed the union of Kirby and Kendal schools and said that everything seemed to be working out for the best. An address was then given by Mrs. Cynthia Zander on behalf of the PTAG. Then the children took their parents on a tour of Kirby School and their own classroom. They personally introduced their parents and teachers and an interesting evening, tyas enjoyed enjoyed by all. Coffee was served during the evening by the school's secretary, 'Mrs. Beryl Clark.
