'V# : ^ 6-Orono Weekly Times. Wednesday, December 8th, 1976 UNITED COUNTIES HOCKEY ATOM The Kinsmen Atoms met Millbrook for their second game this season in Orono Saturday, Dec. 4th. The boys all played g bod team hockey coming up with a 1-0 victory. The Orono goal was scored during the final period by Derek Mumford assisted by Kenny Bailey. Jeff Teravainen did some outstanding goaltending earning his first shutout early in the season. The next game is in Orono, Friday, Dec, 10th. PEE WEE The Pee Wee Flyers beat Newcastle Friday Dec. 3 by a score of 4-2. It was a well played game by all the boys with Kirk Carrr scoring Orono's first two goals. The other Orono goals came from Steve Stec and Terry Watson. The assists went to Brett Johnson (2), Steve Stec and Jamie Cowan. Jay Olsen played a strong game, his first in the Orono net. The Pee Wee's meet Bewdley Saturday, Dec. 11th in Bewdley. ORONO O.M.H.A. MIDGET HOCKEY NÉWS On Wednesday night, December 1, the O.M.H.A. Midgets played their first game in thé Orono arena and were defeated by Port Perry, 5-0. Playing well for Orono were Ken Evans and Ron Opoka. Saturday night, December 4th, the O.M.H.A. Midgets were on home ice and were defeated by Uxbridge, 4-1. Orono was first on the score board with a goal from Mark Charland, unassisted, but. were unable to hold on to their lead. Canawood Bantams' hosted Pickering for their regular weekly Monday night game. The Pickering squad scored one goal in the first period and got another in the Second period. They added two more in the third period before Orono got on the score board. Alan Webster tipped in Terry Hedges and Joey Seneco's rebound. Pickering scored two more to end the game 6-1. On Saturday, the boys travelled to Pickering for an exhibition game with them. Pickering got three goals in the first period. Ross Stutt blasted in a pass from Martin Perry, to open the scoring in the second period. They scored two more and Martin Perry finished the second period on a pass from Joey Seneco. Ross Stutt opened the third period with a sizzling shot from outside the blue line. Peter Kruhkert got one from Joey Seneco and Jim Moffatt to end the game 6-4. Monday, Dec. 6th, the Bantams hosted Port Perry. They got two goals in the second period after a scoreless first period. Duane Major got the team on the scoreboard on a pass from Peter Kruhkert and'Port Perry got another to end the second period with Port Perry 3 to Orono 1. On a pass from Joey Seneco and Robbie Talsma, Martin Perry opened the scoring in the third period. Less than two minutes later Duane Major scored again this time from Preston Long and John Bolton to tie ' the game. Port Perry scored two unaswered goals to end the game 5-3. Again Dan Mitchell was hot as a firecracker in the Orono nets and Jim Moffatt and Paul Reddick also played well for Orono. No one wants dump With the first whisp of snow exception. There was plenty of enthusiasm for the first trip into the forest and along the trails with entire families taking part in the sport. The Ganaraska Conservation Authority will open a Chalet and parking lot at Cold Springs Camp this week and everything is to be- in operation this coming week-end. This'is being operated operated both fqr snowmobilers and cross-country, skiers who wish to make Cold Springs their centre for outdoor recreation. An atteiqpt will also be made to provide outdoor skating on the existing outdoor outdoor rink at Cold Springs and flooding of the rink is to get underway this week. Displays related tô forest ' management and authority operation are to be assembled at the Camp as well as a slide presentation which will be shown on regular basis throughout throughout the week-end for those who wish to view them.
