Pines Senior Public School News Sports . ; Wednesday, January 10, 1979, the Pines Boys and Girls Volleyball teams will be playing in another volleyball all-day tournament. The Pines is proud to announce that both the boys and girls teams won their tournament earlier last month. School basketball tryouts for the boys are in process now. Electives On Wednesday we will be starting our second term electives. There are more interesting electives this term because they can be outdoor electives. A few of the electives for this term are: Cross Country Skiing, Hockey for boys, Basketball, Sewing, , Leatherwork and making stuffed animals. Past Events , During the last day of school before the Christmas holidays there was a long assembly with a visit from Santa and a dance and a game room. The Gazebo, our school store, has been closçd in preparation for the upcoming examinations. Also the library library is only allowing students in, if they plan on working. Exams officially start Jan. 19th to Jan. 29th and most students have started studying studying for them. Town Pays $4,000 Interest Per Month On Arena Loans ORONO, ONT. 993-5207 The Town of Newcastle, according to the treasurer, is paying some $4000.00 a month in interest on funds paid out in the construction of the arena in Orono and the arena in Newcastle. This is due to the fact that Wintario funds have not been received by the Town in respect to the two arenas. A special meeting of council was held on Friday along with staff and representation from Wintario to discuss the Wintario Wintario grants.
