Wednesday, January 24th, 1979 Harold Ransberry elected president Approve Residential estate lots The Planning committee has recommended approval of seven estate residential lots on the lakefront east of Newcastle. The application was made by Jack Jacobsen Construction Ltd. The land is a narrow strip south of the Lakeshore road and north of the lake. The land was classed as Agricultural land 1 and the Ministry of Agriculture and* Food strongly objected to the rezoning but the Planning Director commented that the 16 acre parcel was fragmented fragmented from other land holdings and he felt it whs suitable for estate residential development. The development agreement agreement is to contain such items as the cost of the supply of water and design as well as "adequate drainage of the area. The developer must also enter into agreement with the Town over road construction, egress routes and entrances as well as lighting of the intersections. When agreement is' reached on the development agreement agreement council would then be asked to rezone the property in the north-east of the Village to allow the commercial development. Planning Director Leslie Kristof stated that he had met with the'Ministry of Housing and that the ministry now wants tin overall district plan for the Town of Newcastle completed' before they take Kick off for "Bowl for Millions action with any approvals of individual district plans such as for Orono, Bowmanville, etc. He said everyone was lead to believe that the Ministry would consider individual individual district plans but this was hot to be the case.
