Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, February 14th, 1979-5 Cancer Society. This year it will be for 24 hours. Various community restaurants, and food services will he donating food for the participants. Spectators are welcome at a small entrance fee. Clarke has been doing well in sports. The Midget girls Basketball team beat Cour- tice, four of six games. Senior boys basketball beat Vanier, and senior girls won the tournament at O'Neill. Clarke's Senior Band and Choir will leave on Wed. Feb. 21st for St. Albert, Alberta. They will be flying out there on a band exchange. The students will be billeted out to students of St. Albert's homes. During their stay, they will watch a four hour Italian opera of MacBeth, ski at Banff . and do general sightseeing. Also they will put on a performance for students of St. Albert Clarke students only have to pay $50.00 for this week long excursion as they have been given a government grant. Our present band and choir happèns to be one of the best we have ever had, and we wish them a "Bon Voyage". The Vollèyball teams in the area have been kept busy winning trophies during the school year. The Pines Senior Public School boys team won the Kinsmen invitational held in December, the Western Area Senior Public School championship and the Northumberland Northumberland and Newcastle Elementary Schools Senior Boys Volleyball championship championship held in Brighton in January. The four days will be jammed packed full of interesting activities. All through the week, groups of students will be working on snow sculptures, which will be judged. On Monday, students will nominate nominate a Snow King and Snow Queen. Buttons sold and raffles will be held during the lunches and an assembly will be held in the afternoon. Also it will be a formal dress up day for interested students. Also throughout the week there will bea Pancake -Breakfast, Public Skating, Downhill skiing, a gameroom and a movie. At the end of the week long carnival,.Max Webster will be coming and having a concert. Doors open at 8:30'p m. for Max Webster. It starts at 9:00 p.m. and gees to 11:30 p.m. The group will play approximately approximately two fifty minute sessions. The school rings are expected sometime in March. The Junior Math Contest will be held on Feb. 27, 197? for all interested students in grades nine, ten and eleven. Clarke is also having a Heritage Day Contest. Entries Entries must be submitted by Feb. 16th. Clarke's second Dancç-A- Thon, headed by Brad Reid will take place this Friday, Feb. 16th.
