S-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday; Februar. X 1979 Kendal News Pasted on the wall of Dr. Wilfred T. Grenfell's office were these words: "He did kind things so kindly - It seemed his heart's delight To make poor people happy From morning until night." Dr. Grenfell of Labrador said that every time he looked up these words spoken of Jesus were to him a clarion call that if he would find joy, the real way was His way. A number of the Kendal friends and neighbours attended attended the funeral of Mr. Minné Wybenga in the Mar- ana tha Christian Reformed Church of Bowmanville on February 21, 1979. He was forty-six. It was a very large funeral, several Of those attending had been employed by him and now lived at distant places like Bradford, others had engaged him to do custom farming. The Kendal ladies served lunch after the funeral to the guests.-, There was held a simultaneous memorial service in The Netherlands as his father, four brothers and four sisters and their families live in The Netherlands. Two brothers, John of Ottawa and Sid of NewtonVille were among the relatives at Bowmanville on February 21. The flowers in Kendal church on Sunday morning were in his memory. The Kendal Sunday School staff and children served a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at ten a.m, to the people of the congregation. This was a free gift of the children to the adults. The long tables were covered with white paper runners, on which the pupils had pasted cut outs of pancakes and ôther dainties. Vases with daffodils made the tables quite attractive. Two little children one on each side with a spatula were turning a pancake when I went into the kitchen. Rev. A. Tizzard told the children a story of a little girl who had been out playing in the snow on a cold morning. , Her mother asked her if she yvas cold when she came in. 'Sh replied, "No; I wasn't cold for I sang the snow song and that kept me warm. " ' 'Do you know the snow sohg?" hé asked. Then he asked the older people. It was,. Whiter than snow, yes whiter, than snow, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. Jesus wants us to have clean thoughts, and kind words. Rev. A. Tizzard took his scripture reading from Haggai Haggai 2. This book had been • missed at Kendal due to another event. His subject was, "Life, sometimes a struggle". Haggai delivered his four messages in four months. They were so important important they were included in the old testament. The pilgrims pilgrims had returned from Babylon. They built the foundation of the temple then nothing was done for fourteen years. They became a selfish people. They built for themselves themselves and forgot and neglected neglected God's house. "Now is the time," said Haggai. He brought this message to the High Priest and, to the Governor. The time has come to build again and the greatest message, "I am with * you saith the Lord of hosts." He looked forward to the time when the Messiah would walk in the temple. We come to church because we know we are in the presence of God. The hymn says, "Like a mighty army moves the church of God". That is the way these builders went forward and built that Temple. We are reminded to go forward and build a temple of righteousness and peace. Somewhere there is a work for you to do. Remember Remember the Lord is with you. Haggai 2, verse 4.
