APRIL JAMBOREE CANCELLED The Orono Jamboree which was to be held in the Clarke High School this coming Sunday has had to be cancelled due to the fact that the custodians are out on strike. BAND AND CHOIR CONCERT A band and choir concert is being held in the auditorium of the Clarke High School on Monday, April 2nd commencing at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature the Paul , Kane High School Band from St. Albert, Albprta. The Clarke High School and the Paul Kane school are exchanging visits )f their bands and choirs. Three weeks ago the Clarke Band ■ x '~ visited St. Albert, pares with $1,298,890 in 1978. In speaking with Mr. Jack Dunham, Public Works director, director, he said that the budget did include an expenditure of some $68,000 for storm sewers for Division Street in the Village of Orono. At the present time he said there was no preliminary engineering work completed for the project but this would be carried out this summer. He expects the work to be underway in August or September. September. Official opening Orono Arena The official opening of the Orono Arena and Community Centre will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April l'4th. The official opening will be followed by figure skating and return of the original skating club of 1947-48. Also there will be some of our current skating club. One of the highlights will be a hockey game of the Orono Orphans. There will be coffee and donuts served as well ( as a reunion arid get together in the community centre after the game. All are welcome to attend • all or part, of this event. , Admission is free. Students win Ottawa trip Every year two crossing guards from ehch school are chosen to attend the National » Patrol Jamboree held in Ottawa. ' The students from Orono, chosen through,a draw, are ' pictured above, Darlene Dennis Dennis (left)'and Warryn Lyeett (right). These' two crossing guards will go to Ottawa on' May 23rd and return on the 25th. During their stay they will visit the Governor General's General's office, watch a parade and basically see a few of the interesting sights in Ottawa. < * v , -■
