6-Oropo .Weekly Times, Wednesday, March 30th, 1979 ( SPORTS) Orono New Dutch Oven Tyke team Orono Tennant Fuel Atoms On Monday, March 19th the Orono Tennant Fuel Atoms travelled to South River for the Little N.H.L. tournament. Coldwater defeated Orono 3-1 in Orono's first game of the tournament. Brad Roberts scored the Orono goal with an assist going to Bill Buchanan. Orono's second game of the tournament tournament was played against Schomberg. Schomberg defeated the Orono boys by a score of 3-1. Wayne Atkins scored the Orono goal with Bill Buchanan and Mark Sargent picking up the assists. The Orono boys played good hockey throughout both games at the tournament, Chris Langford played two good games in the Orono goal. Campbellford Tournament On Friday, March 23rd the Tennant Fuel Atoms travelled to Campbellford for a tournament. The Orono team played Peterborough Sacred Hearts their first game. Peterborough defeated Orono by a score of 4-1. Bill Buchanan scored the lone Orono goal. In the second game Orono were matched against Brighton. Brighton won the game by a score of 5-2. Paul Henry scored both Orono goals with assists going to Brad Roberts, David Little and Keith Vey. United County Atoms Pictured above are thé Orono New Dutch Oven Tyke-Novice Team. Good luck next ' season. On Match 22nd the Newcastle Atom Tournament was held. Newcastle was the opposition for Orono's first game with Orono getting beat by a score of 6-0. This put Opono in the consolation round. The second game saw Orono lose in overtime to Baltimore 4-3. Sean Barry picked up Orono's first goal with Jim Sharpe assisting. Kevin Hartwig scored the second Orono goal with the assist going to Derek Anderson. Kevin Hartwig picked up his second goal of the game with Shawn Bailey assisting. Shane Harbiason played well in the Orono net making some really good saves. Allan Hâll didn't play due to an injury received in tlje first game. On March 21st the Orono Atoms travelled to Baltimore to play the 6th game in a best of seven series and came out with a 2-1 win to win the Consolation Trophy for league play-offs. Shawn Bailey scored the first Orono goal with Derek, Anderson assisting. Kevin Hartwig scored the winning goal on a pass from Blaine Bruton. Allan Hall played well in thé Orono net. An excellent team effort by Orono to win the trophy. Congratulations. Congratulations. On March 23rd the Bowmanville Atoms played the Orono Atoms and defeated us by a'scofe of 7-3. Shawn Bailey scored Orono's first goal with Kevin Hartwig picking up the assist. Jim Sharpe scored the second Orono goal with Sean Barry assisting. Kevin Hartwig got his second assist of the night when he set Blaine Bruton up for the final goal. In the first game Orono played against Bowmanville Bond Paving. Orono was outplayed in this game and they lost, by a score of 6-4. Goal scorers in the game for Orono were Brent Hutton 4 goals and Patrick Woods, 1 assist. 4 Orono then went into the consolation side of the tournament and played Bowmanville Bill's Glass. The boys came up with a better effort and won the game by a score of 3-0. Orono goals were scored by Todd Thertell with 1 and Brent Hutton with 2 goals and 1 assist. 1 David Bailey played well in goal for Orono in this game. Orono then went on to play a third game for the consolation championship. This game was against Bewdley. Orono opened the scoring at 7:04 of the first period on a goal by Brent Hutton. Two minutes later Bewdley tied the score at 1-1. Then at the 1:42 mark of the first period, Orono scored on a goal by Brent Hutton, assisted by Robbie Nixon. The next 2 periods were scoreless on some excellent goal tending by Brian Brill for Bewdley and Jeff Graham for Orono. It was a good team effort by Orono to come up with a 2-1 win and bring the consolation pennant home to Orono.
