Sunday morning was April Fool's Day. The minister used this fact to interest the children in their story ending with the words of St., Paul in first Corinthians 4, verse 10, "We are fools for Christ's sake". Mrs. Judy Fonk and Mrs. A. Foster sang as a duet, "The old rugged cross", accompanied accompanied by Mrs. K. Wood. Rev. A. Tizzard read the scripture St. John 1:35-50. The topic of his sermon was Andrew - one of the twelve. Andrew had been a follower of John the ; Baptist. One day John the ' Baptist had pointed to Jesus saying, "Behold the lamb of God", so Andrew and John the beloved disciple, asked Jesus where he was staying. Jesus answered, "come and see". Andrew found his brother Peter and brought him to Jesus. It must have been a great day for both of them. Andrew lived (as it were) in the shadow of his brother Peter. When Peter, James and John went up into : a mountain with Jesus they saw Moses and Elias and the glory of Jesus on the mountain mountain Luke 9:29-30. Rev: Tizzard, asked, "Where was Andrew?" Andrew?" Perhaps he was re- jf> cruiting for the kingdom. One day when Andrew was out there among thé five thousand thousand people he found that little boy with five loaves and two fishes who was willing to Share his lunch. Thus the five thousand were fed: Andrew perhaps brought the mothers and little children to Jesus. Andrew brought some Greeks to Jesus, Some Andrew brought us to Jesus. Andrew was crucified on a cross at Patri. That cross is called the cross of St. Andrew. May we bring others to Jesus like Andrew did. Some of the Kendal men visitied Mr. Wm. Continued from The Pioneers Pioneers of Old Ontario. Mr. W.L. Smith goes on to téll of more recent pioneers.' The following following story although told me so recently as 1920, the narrator- remembered when the howling howling of the wolves could be heard in the swamp between Lake Ontario and where the Kingston Road cuts through the little village of Newton- ville. Samuel Jones from whom the story was obtained was only eight years short of the century mark at the time of Bowmanviile La Leche League The third meeting of the Bowmanviile La Leche League will be held on Tuesday, April 10th at 8 p.m. at 3 Vanstone Court, ■ Bowmanviile. Bowmanviile. -, The topic of the evening will be "Baby arrives: the family his garden, in the afternoon of a hot August day when the interview began.' As we walked walked towards the house his step was as firm as a man of fifty and I found him able to read fine print without the aid of glasses. Mr. Jones was born on the farm on which I met him. "Even within my recok lection", Mr. Jones informed me, "Kingston Road- was little more than a path through the bush. I can remember when our grists had to be carried to Port Hope and in the time of my father, settlers about Newtonville and from as far back as Omemee went all the way to Kingston to have their grain made into flour. One night on , • the fifth concession of Clarke wolves tried to tear a hole in the roof of a shed in which sheep were sheltered. I have speared salmon in Drury Creek: a creek which is now little more than a succession of puddles. It was a common thing for settlers'then to take a couple of barrels of salmon from the lake in a night." F.R. Teri nant Fuels Ltd. Rhone 983-5693 and the breast-fed baby".
