BY WOMEN introduces six women women to the Oshawa area. Lynda Lapeer, who lives in Gore's Landing and was born and' educated in Port Hope, paints in acrylics on canvas in a delightfully naive manner. Stephanie Leman was born in Trenton-and lives near Tweed. Tweed. She has studied widely, paints boldly in water colour and recently had a one-person exhibition at the Art Gallery of Cobourg. One of her teachers, Diane Pugen, is also featured in the exhibition. exhibition. Pugen Was born in Toronto and studied in New York and Chicago. She has taught at the Three Schools, and is currently on staff at Art's Sake, Toronto. Pugen works in charcoal," etching and embossing. Joan VanDamme is exhibiting exhibiting large serigraphs. Born in Michigan, she came to Canada Canada in 1967 where she continued her art studies. She has exhibited widely in the Hamilton, St. Cahterines area. Judith Allsopp shows strong water colours - portraits portraits of women. Born in Kansas, where she wàs educated, educated, she has spent all of her working life as an artist in the Canadian West and Toronto. Ellie Fidler was born in Toronto and educted in Europe Europe and at York University,, Toronto. She lives in Berkely, California and has exhibited her tapestries throughout the West Coast of the United States. She will be exhibiting at. the Art Gallery of Windsor and the Toronto-Dominion Centre during the coming summer. BY WOMEN also features the works of Oshawa and district artists Joan-Marie Dean, Barbara Claus, and Irja Ketola on canvas; water colours by Laurine Sage, Janet McGhee, Sally Wild- man and Wilma Foley; and an etching by Jane Eccles. Dean, Claus, Ketola, Sage, McGhee, Wildman and Eccles Eccles are also featured in the current exhibition at the Robert McLaughlifl Gallery, Oshawa.
