The Bowmanville Slow Pitch Team were at the Orono Park on Sunday, June 10th when the Orono Merchants rang up a 8-3 victory. The game had to be called in the sixth inning duè to rain. The old bell which was used for over a c.entury to call students to class has bejen refinished and placed on a brick platform in front of the present Orono Public School. The bell was manufactured by the Np'ylor Vickers and Co. of England in 1856. At this tjme it was hung ot\ a brand new * sehool built near 'the same location of the present day school. This'school of 1856 replaced the first school of Orono which was built further north in the old cemetery in 1845. ■ - . Kendal Public School.
