Gifts of nature show July 28-29 Through the concept of Studio Six local artists, and artisans will present a show of their work under the title of "The Gifts of Nature". Along with the show a nature walk will be incorporated with Margaret Marsh of the Willow Willow Beach Field Naturalists conducting the walk through Orono Weekly Timés, Wednesday, July 18th, 1979-5 July 29th. The show will be made up of items of pottery by Peggy McKenzie of Kendal, watercolours, watercolours, pen and ink drawings by Kathryn McHolm, designs in textiles by Carrie Osborne and photography by De Anna Lunden. The Pine Ridge Spinners and Weavers will also be present to display the art of spinning and weaving. The show also includes a bake sale and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. the Willow Beach area, commencing commencing at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The show is to be held at Willow Beach, a rural lakeside lakeside setting, west of the Wesley ville Hydro; . Station and at the home of Don and Jane McCall. The show will be held both July 28th and Arena financial reports subm itted to committee At a recent meeting of the Finance Committee the Town Treasurer, Klaas DeGroot, presented financial statements statements relating to both the' Newcastle Village Arena and the Orono Arena and Community Community Centre complex. The total expenditure at the Orono Arena including the community centre room now totals $930,920. To date the Town of Newcastle has received against this expenditure a total of $521,001 with $247,254 from Wintario, $83,882 as part of a Community Centres grant, $54,865 from the coffers UNITEDCHURCH Orono Pastoral Charge Minister |Rev. The Town still has to' collect a sum of $409,919 to complete the financial arrangements for the Orono Arena. More money is expected from Community Centre as well as from Wintario. The local fund raising committee has still some $70,000 to raise above the present cash donations and pledges which amount to near $190,000. Of the $190,000 amount some $145,000 is available in cash. The total expenditure for the Newcastle Village arena amounted to $642,686. To date the Town of Newcastle has received $240,000 from Wintario, $46,250 from Community Centres Centres grants, $33,650 from the Town of Newcastle and a receipt of $120,000 from the local fund-raising comfnittee. The Town has yet to receive $192,786 to make ends meet on the Newcastle arena project. In total the Town has yet to receive $602,705 to meet the financial commitment for the* two arenas.
