In the second period Manvers made ■ it à 3-2 score on an unassisted effort by Steve Shea. With 0:08 left in the period- Brad Roberts came, up with his second goal of the game with assists going to David Bailey and Brent Hutton. In the third period at the 5: 31 mark David Bailey made it 5-2 assisted along by Scott McCullough. But Manvers came right back and at the 4:47 mark Jason Leslie assisted by David Fowler made it 5-3. Orono then came right back and at the 4:40 mark Brad Roberts came up with his third of the game, unassisted. With 0:45 left in the game Derek Anderson passed the puck up to Brad Roberts who made no mistake for his fourth of the game to end the scoring. Final score Orono 7, Manvers 3. Special mention to Brad Roberts, Scott McCullough for a fine two way game and to Shane Harbinson for an excellent come back, Feb. 9th - Orono 2, Manvers 2 On Saturday, February 9th the Tennant Fuel Atoms played host to , Manvers for a rematch of their 3-3 draw of the previous game of their playoffs. This was a very close checking game compared to the previous night's 7-3 exhibition game. Both teams stayed on top of one another and when either team did get loose the goalies came up with the big saves. Manvers opened the scoring at the 6:23 mark of the first period on a goal by Kevin Muller assisted by David Fowler and Kevin Adams. At the 5:03 mark Brad Roberts, playing great of late with 10 goals in his last 6 games, tied the game 1-1 with the assist going to Kevin Hartwig with some great hustle on the play. There was no scoring in the second period with both teams playing some close checking hockey. At the 6:25 mark of the third period Scott McCullough put the local boys ahead 2-1 with assists going to Steve Lycett and Brent Hutton. With 0:48 left in the game, with Orono playing a'man short and Manvers goalie out for an ejctra attacker, Manvers tied the game 2-2 on a goal by Steve Shea assisted by Kevin Adams and Kevin Finney. Feb. 12 - Orono 2, Woodviile 5 On Tuesday, February 12th the Tennant Fuel Atoms travelled to Wood- ville and came away with their first loss of the playoffs. The first period was a wide open affair with Woodviile oUtscoring Orono by the tune of 4-2. David Bailey opened the scoring for Orono with assists going to Brent Hutton and Scott McCullough. Woodviile then tied the game on an unassisted goal by Sam Thornbury who scored all of Woodvillë's goals. Sam Thornbury scored his second assisted by Bruce Teel to go ahead 2-1 only to have Orono tie the game 2-2 on a goal by Brad Roberts assisted by Brent Hutton. Before the period ended Sam Thornbury scored two more to make it 4-2. In the second and third periods both teams tightened up and played some good end to end hockey with both goalies making some fine saves. Finally in the third period Sam Thornbury scored his fifth goal of the game to make the final score 5-2. Special mention to Bill Buchanan and Derek Anderson for a fine effort. Feb. 14th - Minden 3, Orono 3 On Thursday, February 14th the Tennant Fuel Atoms travelled to Mindeh for playoff game no. 7. The Orono boys came out fired up and scored on the first shift of the game, David Bailey scoring with the assist going to Bill Buchanan, But Minden battled back with two goals to go ahead 2-1. A goal by Brad Roberts tied the game late in the second period with the assists going to Brent Hutton and Bill Buchanan. David Bailey's second ■ goal of the game with 3 minutes left gave Orono a tie, Scott McCullough assisted on the goal. Derek Anderson, David Bailey and Bill Buchanan played strong games for the Tennant Fuel Atoms. Feb. 16th - Orono 4, Oshawa 2 The Tennant Fuel Atoms hosted the Oshawa Canadians for an exhibition game on Saturday, February 16th. The Orono boys played a strong game in defeating Oshawa by a scbre of 4-2. Scott McCullough led the scoring with two goals, singles went to Wayne Atkins and Patrick Woods. Darren Dennis had two assists with Steve Lycett and David Bailey adding singles. Every player hustled and worked hard producing a good team effort with special mention going to Wayne Atkins, Patrick Woods and Scott McCullough. Orono plan late in 1980 As a result of a letter to the Town of Newcastle council outlining some six concerns of the Orono Chamber of Commerce Commerce as discussed at a recent joint meeting of the Chamber, members of council council and Town staff a partial report was received on Monday Monday from the Planning Department Department as to some matters of concerns outlined in the Chamber's letter. 1 It was' reported to the . This honor received February 13th, 1980 is the highest achievement that a Canadian Holstein Breeder can win. The presentation was made by National Director Director Lawrence Henderson'" Lacombe, Alberta. The origin of the Sikmas Herd was three daughters of Almerson Sovereign Supreme purchased at the Woods' Dispersal in Bowmanville in 1958 by Pier's father. Due to ill health, Pier bought the herd and took over the farm in June 1961. Pier Sikma has bred a number of great bulls.
