He said the money was to be used to cover Town, costs related to the Courtice development. . Council, he said, passed a resolution that this money be placed in a reserve fund where it has remained and the Town has paid interest on this accbunt. Cowman asked why this had not been spelt out to council to which the Town Manager said it had during debate in October and November November for the 1980 budget. He said it had been agreed that additional funds would be made available in order that up-to-date reports could be provided. He stated that council had eliminated these funds in budget cuts. Guiler said the Town has had a number of reports both from staff and consulting firms as to revision in the financial system and as well the Ministry of Governmental Affairs had met with the Town in 1974-75 to consider the Town's system. • The finance committee continued continued their meeting on Tuesday Tuesday delving into budget matters of other departments. departments. , They were quick to clear the recreation budget whjch was overspent by some $27,000 with a majority of the over-expenditure coming through non-budgeted projects projects as caretaking for some municipal buildings for a six month period when the Town was -without a regular caretaker. caretaker. compact 'world car' is expected expected to be in production by mid 1982. May and June. Although part of this loss is recorded in Canada the Canadian picture is not as bad as in the U.S. It was the first time the company has recorded a loss since 1970 for a quarter and that-was due to a strike. The last no-strike loss picture dates back to 1932 during the great depression. The first half sales in Canada are down by only 2.9 percent from the record set in the same period in 1979.
