CLARKE STUDENTS HELPING WITH CHRISTMAS JOY Today, Wednesday, Clarke High School students will be donating to the Salvation Army both money and food which in turn will be distributed throughout the area to needy families at Christmas. Last year the Clarke students raised near $700.00 in such a donation for the Salvation Army. AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER Fraser Lee, a grade three student at Kirby-Kendal Public School experienced an outing last week along with his mother, Mrs. Carol Lee, which will be remembered fob years ttfeome. The Lee party visited Mrs. Lee's brother, an officer aboard the Glen Park, a cargo ship which was making passage in the St. Lawrence River. The party boarded the ship from a pilot boat at Three Rivers, Quebec, spending the best part of the week aboard. At week's end the ship docked to take on a cargo of grain fob' China. Fraser returns to his eighth line home with many memories of the trip including a coveted officer's hat. Department heads to present philosophies A notice of motion by Councs. Hamre and Hubbard gained a majority support of council on Monday in which the Town Manager is to summarize statements of basic departmental philosophies philosophies to council within a four week period. The statements statements are to be in writing and each signed by the Town Manger and the Department Heads with copies available for all members of council. The intent of presenting this notice of motion was included in an address at the inaugural meeting of council by Counc. Hamre. In speaking in support of the notice of motion Hamre 'said it was an effort to determine a sense of responsibility responsibility for both department department heads and council. She' said it would help determine where they were going and would save a lot of time. She said she saw this as a positive thing for a new council. Counc. Hubbard in supporting supporting the motion said it would help in her role in making policy judgement on staff recommendations. Counc.
