The first period action saw Orono score one goal off the stick of Kent Vanderheyden, passing the puck up was Shane Jones. The second period Orono picked up two more goals. Jason Brachvogel poked in the first goal, passed along by Jim Partner and Scar* Winning. The second goal was blasted in by Jarret Prescott, working with his line- mates, Kent and J.B. Brachvogel. Cameron Ester kept the Newcastle club scoreless with his goaltending, until late in the third period, when they finally g by him, Before Newcastle got their Orono had made it 4-0 on a goal by . Roberts, passed up by his line-mates Williams .and Teddy ; Baker. Scot t AlliSter, Jason Major, David She Greg Hooper and Ryan Marsanis well. After the game the boys retur Orono to take advantage of their pi ice time. Tennant Fuel Atoms Orono 0, Peterborough St. Annes 0 On Monday, December 15th the Tennant Fuel Atoms played host to Peterborough St. Annes for an exhibition game which ended in a Q-0 tie. This was an extremely exciting match with both teams having numerous scoring chances only to be stopped time and again by some great goaltending at both ends. Special mention to Brian Hill, Mark Vanderheyden and Todd Hutton for an excellent effort. Orono 7, Man vers 1 On Friday, December 19th the Tennant Fuel O.M.H.A. Atoms travelled to Manvers for a league game and came up with an impressive 7-1 win. The, first period saw both teams start off slow with very little action and no scoring. ' In the second period the Orono boys ' suddenly found their legs and .stepped up . the tempo of the game and outskated tiie Manvers boys for the rest of the game. 'At the 7:36 mark of .the second period David Bailey opened the scoring on a picture . pass from Kevin Mumfqrd. Todd Thertèll who has been playing much.bettèr of late put in Brent Hutton's rebound to make it 2- 0. With some good hustle, Manvers came back with their only goal of the game to make it 2-1 and close out the scoring of the, second period on a goal by David Glasbergen. The third period saw the Orono boys dominate as they came - up with five unanswered games with some great hustle. Kevin Mumford put Orono ahead 3- 1 on a great 3-way pass play fl-om David , Bailey and Patrick Woods. Brian Hill then, put in Mark Vanderheyden's pass to up the count to 4-1, i five seconds • later Brian Goodwin made it 5-1 with the assist going to Brian Hill. Laurens Kaldeway with one of his better efforts of the season then put in Brent Hutton's rebound. Todd Thertell hoi :(|)th the st to end of ti good coring from ip clear ade it play d and mi ng with his second of the game then closed out the scoring with the assist going to Brent Hutton to end the game Orono 7, Manvers 1 Special mention to Laurens Kaldeway Kaldeway and Doug Bradford. Orono 3, Millbrook 4 On Saturday evening, Dec. 2i Tennant Fuel Atoms played Millbrook and Came out on the short a 4-3 score. The local boys showei intentions by jumping out-by a 2-( score but then some very sloppy play, and poor positional play with lack of hustle by a number of boys led to thje loss. Kevin Mumford opened the s in the first period on a perfect pass David Bailpy who had been put in th by Ted Gaudet. David Bailey then 2-0 on another good three-way passii with assists going to Doug £edfoi Kevin Mumford. The local boys then started sloppy play and saw Millbrook get close out the scoring of the first perihi a goal and a 2-1 lead for Orono. second period Millbrook tied the only to see David Bailey put Orono again with his second of the nigh t assists going to Kevin Mumford ami Bradford on a perfect three-way play (good play making, guys). Mil then came back with two more to ahead 4-3. The third period Saw boys pull their goalkeeper but to n as they could not come qp wi equalizer.
