Schamerhorn to head Bay of Quinte conference Over 500 representatives of the United Church of Canada will gather in Kingston during the May 22nd weekend to : discuss various issues at the 57th Bay of Quinte Conference. Conference. Bay of Quinte is one of 12 regional devisions of the United Church across Canacja. It has 345 congregations congregations ministering to 35 percent percent of the total population in a 25,000 square mile area. Covering 13'A counties, the conference boundaries extend extend from Pickering to Brockville and north to the Ottawa River, including Pembroke and Deep River, but excluding Ottawa city. Glen Ashford of Trinity United in Cobourg, Ont. said there was evidence of increasing polarization of many different kinds within the church. Six ministers and one lay supply retire this year and will be honored at a banquet at which Dr. Garth Legge, general secretary for the division division of world outreach at national national headquarters in Toronto, Toronto, will speak.
