A t St. Saviour's Anglican Church Athletic in sound A delightful service of Holy Holy Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion was held at St. Saviour's Anglican Church on Sunday afternoon when the church was filled to capacity for the service. The Rt. Rev. Desmond Hunt, Bishop of Trent- Durham Region was present ■ for the occâsion along with Rev. Norman Martin and Rev. Haldenby, local pastor. Town administrator still in abeyance In speaking with Mayor Rickard on Sunday, he stated that the Town's interviewing committee for a new Chief Administrator had gone through a series of interviews for the position which was left vacant last February with the resignation of A. Guiler. The Mayor gave no indication indication they were near a point of filling the position other than they had been through' interviews. interviews. Counc, Hubbard, a couple of weeks ago, said they had two further interviews which were carried out in late May. At the time she said, if a choice was not made from the two it would, as far as she was concerned, be over with for the time being. Couns. Hubbard, Taylor and Mayor Rickard are members of the 'interviewing committee. Counc. Hamre has said council would have to do something now or shelve position for a period of time. She states there is a rfeed for a strong Chief Administrator. ■She said she had heard that the salary range is*too low, $32,000 to $42,000. Council Take Heat Off Sign By-Law c ♦ ♦ ♦ ORONO TOURIST CENTRE TO AGAIN OPERATE The Central Ontario Travel Association are to again operate the Tourist Information Centre again this year from June 22nd to Labour Day. The centre will operate for seven days of the week out of the same small building at the New Dutch Oven Restaurant as last year. Two students will be hired to operate the centre with one for forty hours and a second for sixteen hours. RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT* OF TEACHERS FEDERATION A Clarke teacher, Linda Greenwood, has been re-elected president of District 49 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation. Re-election came through acclaimation from the 230 in attendance at the meeting^ Jenny Speksnijder was appointed by Greenwodd from the Clarke staff as her secretary for the 81-82 term, , On a motion by Councs. Woodyard and Prout council on Monday night instructed staff that no further notices of non-compliance be pro- • 'cessed by the department un- til such time as council 'members review the Town's Sign by-law. Woodyard suggested suggested that the review be completed by July 27th, 1981. The sign by-law was passed by council in 1976 and condi- 1 tidns of the by-law now affect all signs in the. Municipality. Those signs existing at the time passing the by-law were exempted from the conditions conditions of the by-law for a five year period. That period has now elapsed and all signs çome under the conditions of the by-law. The conditions of the sign by-law are administered through the building inspectors inspectors under the Planning and Development department. Some letter as notices of non-compliance have been sent out and some inspections made to date. The move by council on Monday halts all action to be taken by the department until such time as council reviews the by-laW and takes other action. Counc. Mike Sawyer was returned as President of the Athletic for the coming y,ear with Dennis Mumford re-elected Vice-President. George Vey was re-elected Secretary with Lloyd Tennant being reelected, reelected, Treasurer. The new slate of officers were- presented by a nominating committee of Bob Lewis and Laverne Boyd. Lloyd Tennant, Treasurer reported a balance of $5,355.62 in the Athletic account account and a balance of $11,771.56 ir the Arena operating fund. Walter Stapleton reported on contact with the Tri- County hockey league which Orono intends to join this coming winter season for house league. He said there could be 23 centres involved and the league would be split either into two or three loops. He said the league used O.M.H.A. rules with the exception exception that body contact for checking is not allowed. A sum of $993.00 has been spent for oiling of the parking lot and Earl Taylor, arena manager, states this may not be necessary in the coming year. Before the beginning of hockey this fall, the èntirp ice surface will be ringed with glass with the additional glass along the west side being installed installed this summer.
