4-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday July 22, 1981 ( YFo rt s Kendal Eagles pick up two wins Over the past week the Kendal Eagles took two wins coming in Oshawaf and at their home diamond playing Peterborough. On Sunday the Eagles defeated Peterborough by a score of 7-4 and with Ralph Kennedy on the Kendal mound taking his fifth win of the season. Relief did come in the seventh for Kennedy with Gary Cox entering the game. Kennedy gave up scattered hits, one being a home run. The Eagles held the lead throughout the game by scor ing single runs in the first, second second and third. They scored two in the sixth, and two in the eighth. The four Peterborough Peterborough runs came as single in the third, fifth, sixth and eighth. John Robinson, Steve West, and D. Pandoff were all credited with three hits in' the game. John Thompson, K. Toffan and M. Carman picked up two hits each with G. Parks getting a single. In all the club was hitting strong .with a total 6f sixteen hits. Kendal 12 Oshawa 1 With Jim Stacey on the Kendal mound giving up only five hits and with his teammates teammates driving out a total of twenty hits the Eagles ran away in scoring over, Oshawa last week. The final score rested at Kendal 12, Oshawa 1. Steve West drove out four single hits and a double in his five trips to the plate and ac counted for four RBIs. Fraser Wallace followed with three for five and John Robinson, K. Taffan, G. Parks, P. Henderson and D. Knapp all collected two hits each. J. Thompson and D. Pandoff hit for singles. The Eagles grouped four runs in the second, four in the fifth, three in the ninth and with a single counter in the first took an easy win over the Oshawa team., The two wins last week vaulted the Eagles into second second place in the league. Eagles in 'B' playdown series With two wins during the past week the Kendal Eagles have now taken over second place in the league and are likely to end up in this position position at the end of leaguë play. The Eagles play their last home game this Sunday at the Kendal Park when they face Bowman ville. Doug Johns, social services commissioner, doubted that a second investigator was required. required. Johns points out that only two percent of the 355 investigations undertaken by the investigator turned out to be ones in which people were receiving benefits under false pretences. He said this would lead onç to believe that only a small percentage of the 5000 receiving benefits may be receiving them 'illegally. A proposal which would have used the Ganaraskadam at Ball's Mill in Baltimore as a source of power for a Micro Hydro ' Generating plant has been ruled out by the Ministry of Energy. The Ministry through Totten Sims Hubicki and co-operation from the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority had prepared a study on the use of the Baltimore Dam as a possible site for a Micro •Generating plant. A number of such models were to be established throughout the province.
