The girls that played well to get home were: Darlene Dennis, Lori Lycett, Wendy Procher and Jenny McDonell. The two girls with all the energy to get home runs were: Meme Barnoski and Annette Harness. All of the girls played well. , Score: 13-9 for Hampton. Orono 2 played another game against Hampton on Jujy 13th at M.J. Hobbs. Exceptional Exceptional playing was done by Cathy Mathwich, Lori Lycett and Meme Barnolki 1 who also ■ managed to get a home run. Score: 9-8 for Orono 2 Orono 2 played a tense game against the Bowman- ville Jays on July 15th at Orono Park ■ North. Kim Sherwin handled the bat well in this game and just slugged those balls. Even though Patty,Breen Patty,Breen was "in left field" she made terrific catches. Near the end of the game, there was a sister combination combination win. Orono 2 were last up to bat r they needed one home fb tie and two to win. With two out in this last inning, inning, Brenda Barnoski made it . to first base, with Meme Bar- ndski next to bat. She slugged . the ball way out field and the "Barnoski sisters" made it home safe. Orono Team II Squirt Soccer During the 1st twp weeks Orono Team II lost two games, one to Bowmanville Team III and also to Newcastle. Newcastle. Against Bowmanville, the boys waged a tough battle and Bowmanville only broke a 1-1 tie late in the game with two quick goals. Against Newcastle, Orono earned a 1-0 lead into the second half, # but with no substitutes, the boys tired and lost 4-1. Jim Partner and Shawn Hardy scored the goals and Scott .McAllister, David Burnett and Roy Mitchell played well. Jarret Prescott and. Scot^ Williams were excellent excellent in goal. "Hard lines" boys and continue to try your best. Kendal Eagles complete schedule Over the past week the Kendal Eagles played two games in which they were able to take, one win. The Eagles were defeated by Whitby and on Sunday the club returned to their -home diamond to take a victory from Bowmanville. This ends league play for the Kendal club with à record of 15 and 7. The complete schedule of all teams will be completed this coming week and with Oshawa breathing down the Eagles neck, the Oshawa club could take over second place. The Kendal club will play in the championship tournament tournament being held in Little Britain Britain with the top seven teams in the league along with the host club, Little Britain, In the E.O.B.A. play- KENDAL 6-1 OVER BOWMANVILLE The Kendal Eagles behind the fine pitching of'Gary Cox downs the Eagles are pitted with Osfyawa and \Vhitby in the 'B' division. These playdowns are expected to get underway as soon as the league play is completed. Last week Kendal were ' defeated by whitby by a score of 7-5 in an error laden game. The victory went to Whitby even though the Eagles were htting well and belted out fif- teeîi hits. G. Parks lead the way for Kendal with 3 for 5 followed by S. West and K. Toffan with 2 for 4. B. Robinson, J. Robinson and Fraser Wallace were credited with two hits with single hits to D. Pandoff and' J. Thompson. E. Moore was the loosing pitching with relief coming from J. Stacey. took a 6-1 .win over Bowmanville Bowmanville in Kendal, on Sunday. Cox went the full nine innings innings for the Eagles giving up ' only two single hits. He took 11 strike outs in his route of the Bowmanville batters. On the other hand the Kendal Kendal batters belted out nine hits for their six runs. In the hitting department K. Toffan and P. Henderson were both 2 for 3 with J. Robinson 2 for 4. Single hits went to B. Robinson, S. West and D. Pultz. Cox retired Bowmanville in order with strike outs both in the third and fifth innings. LAKE FERRY SERVICE GOES AUGUST 7 A commercial Lake Ontario ferry service from Oshawa to Oswego, New York State, is to open on August 7th. The undertaking is being operated by Lakespan, a joint venture by CN Marine and Rideau Shipping Co. Lakespan hopes to obtain four percent of the truck traffic which crosses the border each year. The roll-on, roll-off vessel is capable of carrying 65 trailers. The crossing will take eight hours under normal conditions. CELEBRATE FORTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY The Fortieth Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Graham was celebrated on July 9th at the Seven Star Restaurant with their family and grandchildren, along with the eightieth birthday on July 23rd of Mrs. Graham. They finished with a lovely Anniversary Cake and many .lovely gifts and cards at their home. Many thanks to all are sent from Fred and Nella Graham. DOG TAG SALES INCREASE Due to the implementation of a door to door selling policy for dog tags, business has picked up with over 200 tags being sold in the past three weeks. Council of the Town of Newcastle has hired two on a commission basis to canvas the Town and already the results of the move is showing up. Referee Keith Whiten and • linesmen Jim Potter and Jim Callan, selected Rick Pierik as outstanding player in the championship game. Rick was awarded the game ball by Harold Westerman, convenor convenor of the Scugog Youth Soccer Association.
