CAD/CAM is but another step in the field of technology being fostered at the College in an effort to upgrade the work force and to train students in the latest developments in this field. Garland said there was a need for more students to enter the field of technology and that there was an .ever increasing increasing demand that cannot be filled due to the lack of graduates. He pleaded that students at least take a look at the opportunities. These opportunities, should especially interest girls, he said. During the press conference and with the presentation of the CAD/CAM system speaker after speaker spoke of the mounting demand for people in technology and that without technology Canada would drop far behind as a nation of the world. From further conversation with staff at Durham on Monday following the meeting on Monday it was said that, the College has been unable to strike a line of communication with the secondary school levels of education with the result that the technical courses at Durham are lacking in numbers.
