One sto.rmy December night in 1903 a postman named named Einar Holboell was working working late in a post office on the outskirts of Copenhagen. He was sorting great piles of Christmas mail. I Einar Holboell went back to his mailbags with a sad heart. The contrast between the expressions of good will slipping through his fingers and the forsaken looking children troubled him. As tinje passed, an idea formed in tl\e postmans mind. Suppose'that Suppose'that every Christmas letter letter and parcel carried an extra stamp, and that the money from these tens of thousands of stamps went to help unfortunate unfortunate children, many crippled crippled with diseases like tuber-, culosis.
