According to Orono Scout leaders the above boys are progressing most favourably in scouting and for the first time it could be expected that some of the boys will achieve the Chief Scout Award. The Grottybeats , There was a great turnout at Clarke High School's Band Dance on Thursday, November 19th. Clarke's dance featured the "Grottybeats." "Grottybeats." Many students were "bopping" around the gymnasium as songs were played from the Beatles to the Rolling Stones. Even the police officers and teachers had their share of a good time. The Christmas Prom Christmas is fast approaching approaching and it's time for Clarke's gnnual Christmas Prom. "Frosty's Fantasy" is being held at the Port Darlington Darlington Marina on Thursday, December 17th, from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Tickets will sell for $20.00 per couple, so find a partner and have the time of your life!! Career Week ' Last Week was Clarke High School's Career Week. All students participated .in various programmes. People from the Armed Forces, O.P.lP. and those from industry industry and commerce, took time to speak to the students and fill them in on the background of their careers. Wants permission for valley land clean-up Mr. Frank Groff, Orono, addressed council Monday morning asking permission to proceed with a clean-up and tree removal scheme along the Orono Creek Valleys west of the Orono Business section. section. ■ In his presentation to council Groff said he had permission from the. He said the trçes to be removed were not suitable for lumber. Ospreys on the increase n Lindsay district K. Coleman, Environmental Environmental Biologist Ministry of Natural esources staff checked 44 _ rf sprey nesting sites in the Lindsay District in 1981. The osprey survey, begun in 1978, is carried out each nesting season to determine ,the number of active and inactive nests and the relative reproductive success of each. Thirty-six of the nests showed at least initial signs* of activity, and the production of young was confirmed at 19 nest sites. There was an average of 1.7 young at each of these nests. There were eight new osprey nests recorded this year- The number of active nests was up considerably from the 23 recorded in 1980.
